While Mother Nature forced the cancellations of numerous sectional softball games on Monday, Hoosic Valley and Chatham managed to play there Class C quarterfinal, a game that took extra frames to decide things.

An Ashely Madigan three-run double in the top of the eighth did just that giving Hoosic Valley the “W” and sending the Indians to the Section II Class C semi’s.

Camille Coyne scattered 3 hits and fanned 13 in picking up the win from the circle but on this day it didn’t come easily for the Valley.  Chatham plated three runs in the first and held a 3-1 advantage before the Indians scored three of their own in the sixth fame to take the 4-3 lead, only to see Chatham tie things in the bottom of the inning setting up bonus softball.

Madigan led the Valley attack adding a pair of singles to her game winning double.  Kaitlyn Sucschinski stroked a two-run double and Taylor Champagne enjoyed a two hit day, part of a 14 hit afternoon for the Valley offense.

Haileigh McKay with a single, double and two RBI’s led Chatham who suffered their first loss of the season finishing with a 15-1 mark.

Hoosic Valley with the win improves to 15-6 on the year and moves on to the semifinals later this week.

  1. I’m sorry but it seems you are a bit off on your assessment of the game. The hits were Ashely Madigan for 3 and Emma Irwin 2 and Alexis Parry for 2. The RBI were Alexis Parry for 3 , Ashely Madigan for 3 and Kate Suschinki for 2. You should put credit were it is due if it were not for these four players Valley would of been going home sad. I feel you write ups are very biased and incorrect at time.

  2. Sorry you feel that way Shannon but the information the team sends doesn’t always list everyone that had a multiple hit game. I wasn’t at the game myself to keep a scorecard but congrats to Emma Irwin and Alexis Perry and most importantly the entire Valley team.
