Rick Lyons Staff Writer: The Wasaren schedule got underway Tuesday night with a full slate of action as the teams begin a gauntlet run through conference play, where there’s rarely a night off or easy “W’s”.
Tamarac 61 Greenwich 44
Leading Scorers: Bengals – Dillon Maxon 13 Anthony Zotto 12 Charles Lemay 10 Witches – Kameron Mosher 12
Key Stat: Tamarac shot 15 of 28 from the foul line, Greenwich 5 of 6.
Take Away: Tamarac out scored Greenwich in every period, and maybe after a long drought of success on the hardwood at Clums Corners the Bengals will be a factor.
Mechanicville 60 Hoosick Falls 57
Leading Scorers: Red Raiders – Evan Dunn 29 Jacob Henes 12 Panthers – Alex Mendez 24 Guy Milliman 12 Remington Hickey 11
Key Stat: Dunn and Henes combined to knock down nine 3’s and the Raiders needed everyone to get past the Falls.
Take Away: Mechanicville trailed by 8 at the half but came back for the win, one of many for the Red Raiders this season.
Stillwater 62 Hoosic Valley 49
Leading Scorers: Warriors – Mitchell Wayand 24 Jared D’Aloia 21 Valley – Dan Joslin 15 Don Espey 15
Key Stat: The Warriors put up 40 in the first half against the Valley, a school known for it’s ability to guard.
Take Away: Wayand can score and if D’Aloia can add big numbers nightly, the Warriors will be a handful.
Granville 64 Cambridge 51
Leading Scorers: Horde – Matthew Fuller 21 Trace Bourn 18 Indians Daniel Genevick 16 Kordell Benson 15
Key Stat: Granville trailed 20-5 after one but hung 59 point on the board over the final three periods.
Take Away: Fuller is going to score well every night out. If The Horde can get production from others like Bourn’s 18 last night it could be a nice season in Granville.
