Stillwater Tops Greenwich; Moves to CC Finals

Leading Scorers:  Warriors – Jaxon Mueller 30       Lukas Lilac 11           Witches – Jacob Ziehm 20 4 3’s        Joe Skiff 16

Key Stat:  Stillwater connected on 23 of 30 from the foul line while Greenwich converted 9 of 12 attempts.

Take Away:  Greenwich trailed 32-23 at the half but used a 15-9 advantage in the third frame to trim the deficit to just three points at 41-38 entering the fourth.  Less than one minute in Greenwich center Ryan Alling fouled out paving the way for a dominant, 12-point period from Stillwater’s Mueller, as the Warriors closed things out, securing the Class CC semifinal victory.  Mueller finished the game with 12 made free throws, as many as Greenwich attempted on the night.  Stillwater advances to the finals on Friday where the top-seeded Warriors will face Chatham the Cool Insuring Arena in a 6:45 run.  

Hoosic Valley Moves On, Saints Fall

Hoosic Valley 82   Schoharie 43

Leading Scorers:  Valley – Chris Jones 16       Isaiah Eckler 14       Lane Carner 12       Isaac Wiley 11        Logan Reilly 10         Schoharie – Matt Bernhardt 23 

Key Stat:  Hoosic Valley ran out to a 26-6 lead after the first eight minutes.  

Take Away:  The Indians led 39-20 at the break and put things away with a 23-9 third frame, earning the one-sided quarterfinal victory in Class C. Five Indians went for doubles in scoring and while 10 Indians in all found the scoring column.  

 

Warrensburg 39   Spa Catholic 33 

Leading Scorers:  Burgers – Steve schloss 21 3 3’s               Saints – Aiden Dunne 12     

Key Stat:  Warrensburg held the Saints to five points in each of the first two quarters.

Take Away:  The #6 Burghers built a 19-10 halftime lead and held off the Saints after the break to post the Class C quarterfinal win.  Warrensburg moved onto the semifinal round and a Monday get together with #2 Hoosic Valley at the Cool Insuring Arena on Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Tamarac Advances to the Semi’s

Tamarac 83   Schuylerville 58

Leading Scorers:  Bengals – Joey Poulin 23         Mikey D’Agostino 23 3 3’s          James Blake II 22  9 assists 8 rebounds          Black Horses – Luke Sherman 22 5 3’s   

Key Stat:  Tamarac converted 28 of 36 free throws while Schuylerville was 13 of 18 from the stripe.  

Take Away:  Tamarac led 39-34 at the break but outscored the Black Horses 44-24 in the second half, pulling away for the quarterfinal victory in Class B.  The Bengals placed three players in doubles and shot 78% from the free throw line.  With the win the second-seeded Bengals advance to the semifinal round, facing #3 Glens Falls on Tuesday night in a 5:00 tip, at the Cool Insuring Arena.  

Sectional Results: Witches and Warriors Advance

Key Stat:  The Witches outscored the Falls 20-10 in the final frame.

Take Away: Greenwich trailed 43-37 entering the final period, but used a big fourth quarter to post the comeback “W” in the quarterfinal round in Class CC.  The Witches will face Stillwater in the CC semis on Monday at 6:30 at the Cool Insuring Arena.

Key Stat:  Stillwater connected on 18 of 27 from the free throw line while Lake Goerge converted 6 of 10.

Take Away: The Warriors put three in doubles and used a strong interior game and clutch foul shooting to post the quarterfinal win in Class CC.  Stillwater moves on to the semi’s and a matchup with Greenwich on Monday in Glens Falls ay 6:30.

Key Stat:  Greenwich used an 18-6 third period to take control.

Take Away:  The Witches put thee in doubles and held Voorheesville in the 30’s, notching the comfortable semifinal win in Class CC.  Greenwich advances to the title game on Tuesday at HVCC, facing Corinth in a 7:30 tip.

Key Stat:  Duanesburg held Cambridge to single numbers in three of the four periods.

Take Away:  Greenwich puts three in doubles and cruises in their Class CC quarterfinal on a night where Adrianna Rojas joins the 1000 career points club.  Next up for top-seeded Greenwich is a semifinal run with #5 Voorheesville on Friday night at 8:30 in Averill Park.
