The Saints and Witches, top seeds in their respective classifications, and the Indians playing as well as anyone of late, all poised to take the next step in the sectional tournament.  Continue reading

Hoosic Valley Moves To the Semi’s

While Mother Nature forced the cancellations of numerous sectional softball games on Monday, Hoosic Valley and Chatham managed to play there Class C quarterfinal, a game that took extra frames to decide things.

An Ashely Madigan three-run double in the top of the eighth did just that giving Hoosic Valley the “W” and sending the Indians to the Section II Class C semi’s. Continue reading

Witches, Indians, Saints March to the Finals

The Wasaren league has long been considered one of the premier small school conferences in New York state.  Independent of the season, the league schedule is a gauntlet preparing teams well for post season success.  Section II titles more times than not are decided with one, if not two league squads in the championship tilt.  This spring will be no exception. Wasaren Fares Well in Sectional Play

The Wasaren sent multiple baseball and softball teams into sectional games on Thursday and as is typically the case, they represented well.  A trio of league baseball and softball squads advanced with “W”s” and the league teams that went down in defeat both lost to a fellow Wasaren school.

Class B:  Hoosick Falls 3  Hudson 2 Continue reading

Wasaren Sportsnet Player of the Week

Congratulations to Hoosic Valley’s Camille Coyne on being named Wasaren Sportsnet Player of the Week.

Camille put together some incredible numbers over the final eight days of the regular season to capture the award.

On May 8th the senior right-hander threw a  no-hitter with 13 K’s in a 4-0 victory over Hoosick Falls.  On May 12th it was a two-hit shutout while fanning 17 in a 1-0 “W” over Saratoga Catholic. Camille completed her run of dominance on the 15th firing another no-hitter and striking out 15 batters in a 4-1 win over Stillwater.

Congratulations Camille, our final Wasaren Sporstnet Player of the Week for the spring season.

Sectional Play Underway

Section II wasted little time in getting their spring tournaments underway this year with some schools playing on the same day that pairings were announced.  This afternoon first round games in softball will be played in Class B and C, while second round baseball contests will also play out in those classifications.  Continue reading

Regular Season Finales on the Diamonds

Seemingly, just like that, the regular seasons in baseball and softball came to a close on Monday with one-sided victories carrying the day.  Greenwich, Hoosic Valley and Cambridge all posted double figure softball “W’s”, while in baseball Tamarac cruised past Mechanicville. Continue reading
