Rick Lyons Staff Writer: There was a full slate of action in the Wasaren Wednesday night as the girls begin their way through the league schedule. Eight weeks to sort out a league champion which will be well earned by whomever wear’s the crown.
Tamarac 61 Greenwich 42
Leading Scorers: Bengals – Emily Erickson 24 Amani Henderson 11 Witches – Isabella Kuzmich 14 Olivia Barnes 10
Key Stat: A 15-5 third period for Tamarac broke open a close game at the half.
Take Away: The names Erickson and Henderson dominating a couple of years back for the Bengals and don’t be surprised if Act II has similar results.
Hoosic Valley 30 Stillwater 23
Leading Scorers: Valley – Katie Kennelly 6 Warriors – Londyn Mitchell 12
Key Stat: The Valley Stillwater to 23 total, and just eight points in the second half.
Take Away: Hoosic Valley played 11, 10 scored, and they’re 1-0, 3-0 on the young season. They can and will guard every time out, and that will most nights put them in position for the “W”.
Cambridge 52 Granville 43
Leading Scorers: Indians – Helen Mooney 14 Olivia Mooney 14 Horde – Alexis Smith 17 Gabby Hunt 13
Key Stat: Cambridge opened and closed well, out scoring the Horde 28-16 in the first and last periods combined.
Take Away: Cambridge with a 3-0 overall mark and Granville with a 3-1 record sparks promise in both programs for a solid year.
Hoosick Falls 53 Mechanicville 19
Leading Scorers: Falls – Megan Flynn 16 Lizza Ryan 12 Eliza Whitman 11 Kelly Pine 11 Red Raiders – Julia Amedeo 9
Key Stat: Suffocating defense by the Falls held the Raiders to a pair of two point quarters.
Take Away: Balanced scoring with four players in doubles, and the ability to defend as well makes for what should be a big year in Hoosick Falls.
