Girls Basketball; Panthers, Valley, Warriors Notch Wins

Just three games were played in the league on Wednesday night as Mechanicville was not in session due to the water issues in Troy that has affected the school.

The first place Panthers of Hoosick Falls had a battle with Cambridge for three periods before posting the victory, while Hoosic Valley and Stillwater enjoyed comfortable “W’s”.

Hoosick Falls 50  Cambridge 34

Leading Scorers: Falls – Kelly Pine 18      Lizza Ryan 12     Indians – Lynn Brownell 10

Key Stat: The Indians trailed by only two at 28-26 after three quarters, but the Panthers sealed the win with a 22-8 final frame.

Take Away:  Hoosick Falls goes to 9-1 in league play, while Cambridge moves to 6-4 with the loss.

 

Hoosic Valley 60  Greenwich 24

Leading Scorers: Valley – Emily Norman 18   Gabby Serafin 10   Cami Wren 10         Witches – Olivia Barnes 9

Key Stat: A nice night for the Valley who won every quarter, held the Witches to 14 points through three, and placed three players in doubles offensively.

Take Away:  Greenwich drops to 2-8 on the season, and the Indians improve to 8-2 and look towards a big run on Friday in Tamarac.

 

Stillwater 51  Granville 32

Leading Scorers: Warriors – Abby Higgins 18   Danika Svendsen 10        Golden Horde – Gabby Hunt 9

Key Stat: Stillwater held a 27-13 lead at the half, extended that to a 40-22 advantage at the end of three, and cruised to the “W”.

Take Away:  Granville slips to 0-10 with the loss, and the Warriors improve to .500 in league play at 5-5.
