Several Wasaren teams wrestled Saturday in the annual Coach Ken Baker Classic held in Mechanicville and the host Mechanicville/Stillwater squad wrestled to a second place finish in the 14 team event.

Ravena took the team title with 139 points.

Here are the league teams and their respective finishes: 2.Mechanicville/Stillwater with 135 points 6. Salem/Cambridge 102 points  7. Granville 79 points  8. Tamarac 70 1/2 points  12. Hoosick Falls 46 points

League wrestlers that captured titles on Saturday were Frank Darwald (113) Mechanicville/Stillwater, Fritz Scheffler (152) Tamarac, and Dan Hayner (195) Mechanicville/Stillwater.

Wrestlers with second place finishes: Matt LaPorte (99) Hoosick Falls, Garrett Cummings (113) Salem/Cambridge, Daniel Motta (120) Mechanicville/Stillwater, David McFarland (145) Salem/Cambridge, Jody Hermance (220) Granville, and Austin Reed (285) Granville.

Frank Darwak of Mechanicville/Stillwater earned the lower weight Most Outstanding Wrestler award, and Granville’s Zack Haskins took home the Ken Baker “Never Give Up” award.
