The College of St. Joseph completed a story book season on Saturday with a 73-46 victory over Albany Pharmacy & Health Sciences in the USCAA Womens Division II Championship game, securing a national title for the Rutland Vermont school.
The Lady Saints finished the season with a stellar 30-1 mark, and stormed through the competition at the national tournament posting victories of 20 points or more in every contest they played.
The Saints led 25-6 after the first period and extended the lead to 39-19 at the half, cruising home from there to earn the national crown.
CSJ placed four players in double figures with Jazz Laracuente scoring 22 points, Regina Steele 18 and 12 rebounds, Arreonte Anderson 14 and 14, and Mookie Kennedy with 17 points and five steals.
Steele was named the Womens Division II Tournament MVP, while Laracuente and Anderson were chosen for the Division II All Tourney Team.
