Girls Basketball; Falls, Valley Roll

A full slate of girls action on Tuesday night saw three squads win in blowout fashion, while another used a big fourth period to earn a comfortable “W”.

Hoosic Valley 51  Stillwater 30:  The Indians held Stillwater to eight first half points in building a 20 point advantage at the break, and coasted to the easy victory over the Warriors.

Cami Hren led the Valley attack with 16 points, including four triples, on a night where the Indians saw nine players score.  With the victory Hoosic Valley improves to 7-1 in Wasaren play.

Natalie Menneto scored 16 points to pace Stillwater (4-4).

 

Cambridge 60  Waterford 14:  Cambridge held the Fordians to single digits in every quarter, hung 21 points on the board in the first eight minutes, and never looked back in posting the one-sided “W”.

Helen Mooney with 20 points and 12 rebounds fueled the Cambridge (2-6) offense.

Annelise Rebel scored eight points for Waterford (0-8).

 

Hoosick Falls 65  Saratoga Catholic 36:  The Panthers dominated on both sides of the ball over the first two periods, running out to a 43-9 lead at the break and cruised to the easy victory over the Saints.

Kelly Pine with 16 points, and Lizza Ryan with 13 led Hoosick Falls ( 6-1).

Emma VanDeCar dropped a game-high 22 points for Spa Catholic (1-7).

 

Tamarac 55  Greenwich 43: In the only close contest of the night, Tamarac held the slimmest of margins at 40-39 entering the final period, but outscored the Witches 15-4 in the fourth to hold off the upset bid from Greenwich.

The Bengals put three players in double digits, with Emily Erickson netting 15 points, and both Hannah Kreiger and Renna Poulin adding 13 points leading the way for Tamarac (6-1).

The Witches also had three players in doubles with Sabrina Whitehouse scoring 13 points, while Olivia Barnes and Gabbie Wiss scored 10 points each to pace the Greenwich (3-5) attack.

Wasaren Sportsnet Player of the Week

waterford logoWasaren Sportsnet has named Waterford’s Kyle Fairclough as this week’s  Wasaren Sportsnet Player of the Week.

Kyle scored 27 points in a 51-49 loss at Greenwich on Wednesday, and dropped 35 points in a 58-45 victory over Tamarac on Friday, leading the Fordians to their first league win of the year.

The senior guard is averaging 25 points nightly, and has converted 22 of 24 free throws over his last two outings.
