Wednesday Roundup; Hawks, Raiders, Panthers Notch Shutout W’s

Hoosic Valley 4   Fort Ann 0

The Hoosic Valley Hawks scored twice in each half and opened their season in style, posting the comfortable road win over the Cardinals of Fort Ann on Tuesday.

The Hawks first goal came when Isaac Wiley found Gabe Coffin with a thru ball and Coffin beat the Cardinal keeper for the 1-0 lead. 

Minutes later Coffin returned the favor to Wiley with the duo working a give and go for a Wiley tally and the 2-0 advantage.

With 12:00 remaining in the match Landon Reilly found the back of the net off a nice find from Connor King and just two minutes later the Valley connected on their final score of the contest when Wiley took a chip pass from Reilly and rang the bell for his second goal of the match.

Hoosic Valley keeper Dem Neary in his first game between the posts saved 10 and combined with the Valley defense for the clean sheet.

Next up for Hoosic Valley is a Friday home game with the Tigers of Hudson Falls in an 11 a.m. start.

Mechanicville 5   Waterford 0

Mechanicville’s Matthew Salvadore carded the low round of 40 leading the Red Raiders to the sweep of Waterford in action at the Mechanicville Golf Course on Tuesday morning.

Nate Salvadore, Logan Starks, Jack Salvador, Connor Dion and Jacob Pickett all notched individual match win for the 3-0 Red Raider squad.  

 

Hoosick Falls 5   Cambridge-Salem 0

Ian Fleming fired an even-par 34 to capture medalist honors and his Panther teammates all secured match wins for the shutout over CS at the Hoosick Falls Country Club. 

Earning points for Hoosick Falls were Brady Mann 39, Dylan Callahan 40, Jack Shea 42, and Michael Plusch 42, with Devin Gauthier 46 and Jack Shea 53 rounding out the Panther’s scoring.  

Top scorers for Cambridge/Salem included Luke MacDougal 36, Blaise Barrett 59, Josh Pratt 60 and Kiernan Haskell 61.

With the win the Falls improves to 1-1 on the season while Cambridge/Salem with the loss goes to 2-1 on the year.
