Sam Fauler threw for 155 yards and four touchdowns leading Hoosick Falls/Tamarac past Cobleskill Friday night in the season-opener for both squads.

Fauler connected on scoring strikes of 40 yards to Elijah Daniels, 11 and 24 yards to Carson Glover and capped the aerial assault with a 52-yard connection to Stifler.

Andrew Sparks rushed for 143 yards on 18 carries with a 33-yard touchdown, while Daniels finished with 106 receiving yards, in a game where HF/Tam jumped out to a 12-0 lead early and were never headed.  

Mechanicville 3   Ballston Spa 0

The Red Raiders built a 2-0 halftime advantage, added another tally after the break and rode a strong defensive effort to the win over Ballston Spa.

Tom Wendel rang the bell 10 minutes into the match for Mechanicville and Ethan Raucci followed with a scoring strike before intermission.  A Logan Starks finish in the second half closed out the scoring for Mechanicville who saw keeper Joey Devito save eight shots in the shutout.

Ballston Spa keeper Justin Miller, under siege throughout the contest, turned back 28 shots on the night. 

With the win Mechanicville moves to 2-0 on the young season. 

Waterford 4   Corinth 1

Josh Catanzarita with two goals and a pair of assists led Waterford past Corinth under the lights Friday night at Fordian Stadium.

Waterford scored a pair of first-half goals minutes apart when Catanzarita drove a hard shot past the Tomahawk keeper, and soon after found Matt Soden who finished for the 2-0 Fordian advantage which Waterford took into halftime.

After the break Catanzarita found the range for his second tally of the match and Waterford closed out their scoring when Mason Noto split the posts for the 4-0 cushion.

Corinth got on the board with under 10 minutes remaining when Emerson Rigley converted off a corner kick.  

Waterford keeper Logan Kelly saved 10 shots in the match while Owen Baker made 12 saves for Corinth.

Waterford 6   Saranac 1

Addyson Galuski led the way for Waterford scoring four times in the Fordians one-sided decision over Saranac.

Cassidy McClement and Peyton Galuski added scoring strikes, with Galuski dropping three assists in the match as well. 

Saranac avoided the shutout when Brenna Ducatte connected on a second-half tally.  

Goalkeeper Grace Damiani saved six shots for Waterford in the win. 

Mechanicville 5   Tamarac 0

Logan Starks earned medalist honors carding the low round of 39, as Red Raiders swept past Tamarac at the Mechanicville Golf Course on Friday morning. 

Nate Salvador, Jack Salvador, Matthew Salvadore, Connor Dion and Jacob Pickett all posted individual wins for Mechanicville who is undefeated in five matches this season.  

 

Greenwich 3.5   Hoosic Valley 1.5   (Thursday)

In action at the Battenkill Country Cub Greenwich’s Erik Wade carded the low round of 40 as the Witches got past Hoosic Valley in Wasaren golf.

Colby McCauliffe and Brayden Stutzman picked up points for Greenwich while in flight two the Witches Sam Ziehm and the Valley’s Matt Wager split the point, and in flight three Hoosic Valley’s Keegan Antler earned a point with a match win.   

Greenwich improves to 2-1 on the year and Hoosic Valley slips to 0-3 with the loss.
