Hoosic Valley 3 Saratoga Catholic 0
In a game shortening by pending storms Hoosic Valley connected for three scores in one half of action and posted the shutout over the Saints in action at Gavin Park in Saratoga.
Gabe Coffin put the Valley on the board early when he finished a long Isaac Wiley cross with a nice header for the 1-0 lead.
Minutes later defender Mason Speanburg, after an extended run up the middle, found Evan Maloney on a thru ball, and Maloney’s finish gave the Hawks the two-goal advantage.
Midway through the half Coffin, after a steal near midfield, carried it, and split the posts for his second tally of the match and the 3-0 lead which proved to be the final as officials, with weather approaching, called the game at halftime.
With the win the Hawks improve to 2-0 on the year and look towards their next game on Monday in Schaghticoke when they welcome in Cambridge-Salem.
