Friday Night Results: Stillwater Moves to 5-0

Stillwater 20   Canajoharie/Fort Plain 12

Stillwater scored the first 20 points of the game and held off Canjo/Fort Plain the rest of the way, posting the win and moving to 6-0 on the season.  

Jaxon Mueller put Stillwater on the board with a two-yard scoring run, and later in the first, it was Mueller connecting with Thomas McDonough on a 26-yard scoring strike and the home squad led 14-0 heading into the second frame.

Stillwater extended their lead early in the second when Mueller took it in from two yards out and with the point after off the mark, they led 20-0.

C/FP broke through on a 13-yard Cody Hyney to Zach Herget touchdown connection and the two squads took it into the break with Stillwater in front 20-6.

In the third it was Herget scoring on a 12-yard scamper cutting the lead to 20-12.

But those were the last points of the night and Stillwater closed things out for the “W” while handing the Cougars their first loss of the year.

Stillwater running back Lukas Lilac finished with 150 yards on 34 carries, and Mueller gained 26 yards with a throwing and a pair of rushing TD’s, before leaving in the second quarter with a shoulder injury.

Defensively James Cocozzo had a big night for Stillwater with 14 tackles.

Hoosick Falls/Tamarac 47    Watervliet/Heatly 6

The Wildcats hung all 47 points on the board before the halftime break in cruising to the home win over Watervliet/Heatly.

HF/Tam spread the wealth in the first period with four players scoring touchdowns.  Carson Glover and Andrew Sparks scored on 20-yard runs, Sam Fauler found Jack Cavanaugh on a 33-yard scoring strike and Richie Stifter returned an interception 22 yards for six completing a 28-0 opening quarter.

The Wildcats added three more scores in the second frame on a 23-yard Sparks TD, a 35-yard touchdown tote from Ryan McMahon and a 1-yard scoring plunge by Connor McNeil giving the home team an insurmountable 47-0 advantage at the break.

With the win HF/Tam improves to 5-1 on the season.

Glens Falls 20   Mechanicville/Hoosic Valley 7

The visitors from Glens Falls built a 20-0 lead by the break on three scoring throws from Brody Holcomb to Kellen Driscoll and notched the road win over M/HV.

Marcus Robinson scored on a third quarter 19-yard run for M/HV but the hosts could draw no closer with both defensive units shutting things down for the remainder.

Waterford 5   Cambridge 0

The Fordians ran out to a 3-0 advantage by halftime and coasted to the win at home over Cambridge.

Josh Catanzarita with a hat trick and Logan Sheehan with a pair of scoring strikes led the Waterford attack.

Fordian keeper Logan Kelly, five saves, combined with the Waterford “D” for the shutout while Cambridge keeper Carter Hamilton saved 24 shots in the match.
