Mechanicville Slips Past Cobleskill

Mechanicville 1   Cobleskill 0

In a defensive battle between top seeded Mechanicville and upstart Cobleskill, a second half goal from Tom Wendel proved to be the difference in Mechanicville’s Class B quarterfinal victory.

Mechanicville controlled much of the action throughout, with numerous shots on goal that Cobleskill keeper Kole Wayman time and again denied.

But Wendel slipped one past Wayman after the break and the Mechanicville defense made it stand,

Wayman finished with 15 saves in the game while Mechanicville keeper Joey Devito needed just one.

With the win Mechanicville moves on to a Wednesday semifinal match with Hudson at LaSalle Institute.
