Sectional Soccer: Waterford Boys Move to C Semi’s

The Fordians scored a goal in each half and despite playing a man down for much of the second half, got past B/W in a Class C quarterfinal on a cold night in Waterford.

Ten minutes in Waterford got on the board when Logan Sheehan connected form long range and the 1-0 Fordian advantage.

Waterford carried the slim lead into halftime and soon after the break the home squad lost a player due to a second yellow card and finished the match at a disadvantage.  

With 10 minutes remaining Josh Catazarita scored on a free kick from just outside the box and Waterford closed things out, advancing to the semifinal round on Thursday where they’ll face #2 Voorheesville at 5 p.m. at Fordian Stadium.

Eli Kirgan with four goals led the Blackbirds past Greenwich in Class C quarterfinal action on Monday.

 

Maple Hill 1   Greenwich 0

In the first half of play Avery Morse, off a feed from Ben Brewer scored the only goal of the match as top-seeded Maple Hill squeezed past the Witches of Greenwich in a Class C sectional quarterfinal.
