Waterford, Stillwater Advance to Class C Semifinals, Mechanicville Moves to Class B Final

Waterford 9   Mayfield 0

Hat tricks from Peyton Galuski and Mia O’Brien led the Fordians to the comfortable, Class C quarterfinal win over Mayfield, Tuesday night at Fordian Stadium.

Cassidy McClement, Izzy Vecchio, and Imani Bloomfield all connected for single goals in the win.

Maddy Atwood saved five shots and combined with the Waterford defense for the 10th shutout in the last 12 outings, and second straight in sectional play.

With the win top-seeded Waterford moves to a semifinal match with #4 Chatham on Saturday in Mechanicville at 3 p.m.

Stillwater 3   Berlin/New Lebanon 0

Stillwater built a 2-0 halftime advantage, added a single tally after the break and posted the shutout victory over Berlin/New Lebanon in Class C, quarterfinal action.

Brooke Hodgson connected in each half, and Sofia Perniciaro added a first half scoring strike to pace the Stillwater attack.

Miranda Price and Charisma Salecker combined for five saves and with the Stillwater “D” notched the clean sheet.

Mountain Lions keeper Rebecca Madsen saved 10 for B/NL.

With the win second-seeded Stillwater moves to the semifinal round where they’ll face #6 Maple Hill at Mechanicville on Saturday in a 1 p.m. start.   

Maple Hill 1   Hoosick Falls 0

After a scoreless regulation Maple Hill’s Jayda Jordan, off a Hayley Spar feed, found the net with an overtime strike leading the Wildcats past Hoosick Falls in Class C, 

Maple Hill keeper Abby Szklenka saved three shots in the win, while Hoosick Falls goaltender Jenna Backes stopped four shots for the Panthers who finish the year at 6-10-1 but played well in the sectionals with a pair of wins, before the overtime loss to the 6th seeded Wildcats. 

 

Chatham 4   Greenwich 1

The Witches, on an Eliza McQueen goal held a 1-0 lead at the break, but Chatham, led by a three-goal half from Addison Perry stormed back to notch the quarterfinal victory in Class C.  

Keeper Helen Tassinari saved eight shots in the win for the Panthers, while Greenwich keeper Oliveah Reiszel stopped four shots for the Witches.

 

Mechanicville 3   Grenville 0     (Monday)

Mechanicville led 2-0 at the break, padded their cushion with a second-half score and notched the Class B semifinal win over Greenville on Monday.  

Maddie Hopeck tallied twice, and Ava Charbonneau added a single strike for Mechanicville who pitched the shutout with keeper Ava Grimmick saving five shots and combining with the Mechanicville defense for the clean sheet.

#3 Mechanicville moves to the Class B championship match on Friday night at Stillwater, facing top-seeded Voorheesville in a 7:30 start.
