Chatham Tops Hoosick Falls in Class C Title Game

Chatham 5   Hoosick Falls 0

Hitting Stars:  Chatham – T. Van Alstyne 2-4, 3B    L.J. Morse 2-3, RBI    Hunter Kelly 1-3, 2B, RBI

Take Away:  Chatham scored three times in the bottom of the first, added a pair of runs in the third, and Smalley and Van Alstyne combined for the three-hit shutout as Chatham earns the Class C title with the win over Hoosick Falls.  

Hoosick Falls ends their fine season at 14-7 including an impressive sectional run to the C final.

Take Away: Schuylerville’s Lucy Myers drove in the eventual winning run with an RBI single in the top of the seventh and Sophia Wahl retired Tamarac in order in the bottom of the inning, as the Black Horses capture the Section II Class B Softball title in Moreau on Thursday.

Take Away: In a pitcher’s duel between Macrina and Boisvert, Berne-Knox pushes across the winning run with two outs in the ninth to earn the Section II Class C Softball title.

Take Away:  Trailing 3-2 after five frames the Panthers took the lead with a 3-run sixth and Boisvert set down the final six batters in order as Hoosick Falls with the semifinal win moves the Class C final.

Take Away:  With the game tied at 5-5 after seven innings of play, the Falls plated three runs in the eighth and freshman Ryan Sparks worked the bottom half of the frame, picking up the win in the Class C semifinal over Spa Catholic on Monday.

Take Away:  #13 Stillwater trailed 4-0 after the first and 6-3 entering the seventh, but rallied, scoring twice in the frame and had the tying run on second, before the top-seeded Black Horses escaped, snaring a line-out to right field for the final out in Class B semifinal action.
