In a nonleague match at Stillwater on Sunday Bronxville and Stillwater batled toi a scoreless tie.
With defense the theme of the day Stillwater keepers Miranda Price and Ally Liamero combined for five saves and with the Stillwater defense for the shutout.
Lily Delaney and Elizabeth Heathwood combined for four saves between the posts for the visitors.
Hoosic Valley 1 Amsterdam 1
In action from Saturday, the Valley led 1-0 at the break on a Hannah Coffin direct kick, but Amsterdam pulled even after intermission when Jayla Waithe connected on a scoring strike, closing out the scoring in the match.
Holding a 2-1 lead at the break, Mechanicville scored four times after intermission to notch the high scoring “W” over the Blackbirds of Voorheesville.
Ethan Raucci led the Mechanicville attack with a hat trick while, Cruz Goverski, Scotty Lynch and Rece Dyer connected on single tallies. Dyer assisted on a pair of scores with Lynch and Logan Starks assisting on a goal apiece.
Eric Guilmette led Voorheesville with a pair of scores and Connor McMillian added a goal as well.
Mechanicville keeper Mark Pingelski saved three shots in the win.
Stillwater 3 O’Neil 0
Stillwater rode a stout defense and timely scoring to the non-league win over O’Neil in Stillwater on Saturday.
Brooke Coon and Hodgson staked the home squad to a 2-0, first half lead, and a single scoring strike by Sofia Perniciario off a Coon feed, midway through the second half capped the scoring in the match.
Stillwater keepers Miranda Price and Ally Liamero combined with the Stillwater defense for the clean sheet.
Stillwater moves to 2-0 on the young season with the “W”.
Hoosick Falls 5 Stillwater 0
The Panthers Aiden Fleming fired a one over par 37 to claim medalist honors and lead the Falls to their season-opening victory over Stillwater in golf action at Saratoga Lake Golf Club.
Top scores for Hoosick Falls included Dylan Callahan 42, Spencer Tate 44, Brady Mann 46, Devin Gauthier 47, Jack Shea 48, Aidyn Degraff 50 and Zach Houghton with a round of 51.
Top Stillwater scores included Tye Morris 44, Logan Pickett 46, Julian Peluso 48, Nick Rose 49, with Daniel Degrasse-Izzo and Myles Marinello both carding rounds of 54.
Hoosick Falls with play four straight days of matches next week starting with a home match on Monday when they welcome in the Fordians of Waterford,
Mechanicville/Hoosic Valley rode a strong rushing attack to the win with both DiMaggio Ferrara and Jordan Barnes running for 100 yards, and the M/HV defense did the rest in their Week 0 victory over neighboring Stillwater.
The visitors got on the board first when quarterback Aidan Callanan threw a 60-yard scoring strike for a 7-0 lead.
M/HV answered with a 3-yard TD run by Ferrara and the two squads went into the half knotted at 7-7.
The only scoring of the second half came on a one-yard QB sneak by AJ Messercola giving the hosts a 14-7 advantage.
Late in the game Barnes broke off a 55-yard run allowing M/HV to run out the clock.
Next up for M/HV is a home matchup with divisional rival Hoosick Falls/Tamarac.
Hoosick Falls/Tamarac 21 Cohoes 3
Hoosick Falls/Tamarac eased out to a 13-3 halftime lead and shutout Cohoes over the second half to capture the “W” in the season-opener for both teams.
HF/T struck first on a 13-yard TD pass from Sam Fauler to Carson Glover and with the kick a 7-0 Wildcat lead.
After a Cohoes field goal early in the second period, it was Fauler again finding Glover from 25 yards out and after a failed two-point try HF/T took a 13-3 lead into the break.
The only points of the second half came on Fauler’s third touchdown strike of the night, this time connecting with Richie Stifter on a 54-yard TD throw and Trent Benedict ran in the two-point conversion giving the Wildcat’s a commanding 21-3 cushion.
Fauler finished the game 7 of 14 for 167 yards and three touchdowns, while R. McMahon paced the HF/T rushing attack gaining 76 yards on 21 carries.
Coxsackie-Athens 4 Hoosick Falls 0
Coxsackie ran out to a 3-0 halftime lead and cruised from there to the shutout win over Hoosick Falls in girls’ soccer action on Friday.
Danielle Deering scored a first half, hat trick and added a single tally after intermission to account for all the C-A offense.
C-A keeper Jasa Cruz saved seven shots in the match while Hoosick Falls keepers Lucy Haynes and Chaya Rhoden combined for nine saves in the loss.
Cambridge-Salem 10 Hadley Luzerne 0
Luke Leblanc with a hat trick led the way to the one-sided victory in boys’ soccer for Cambridge-Salem.
Eight of Leblanc’s teammates added single scoring strikes in the road win for C-S.
Waterford 4 Hoosic Valley 1
Jonny Atwood fired the low round of 48 to lead the Fordians past the Valley in action at Fairways of Halfmoon.
Other top scores for Waterford included Dylan Day 50, Landon Pitcher 51, Tanner Machia 52 and Andrew O’Connor with a round of 59.
Top scores for Hoosic Valley were Jackson Schram and Keegan Antilock with rounds of 54, Ryan Morrissey 55 and Chris Tracy with a 56.
With the win Waterford improves to 2-2 on the year while the Valley goes to 1-1 with the loss.
Mechanicville 5 Greenwich 0
Nate Salvadore and Logan Starks shared medalist honors firing rounds of 39 for Mechanicville in the shutout of Greenwich in golf action at the Battenkill CC on Friday.
Also earning match wins for the visitors were Matt and Jack Salvadore, Ben Amato and Jacob Pickett.
With the “W” Mechanicville moves to 5-0 on the season while Greenwich goes to 1-1 on the year.
Mechanicville built a 2-0 lead by intermission and rang the bell three more times in the second half in posting the 5-1 “W” over Glens Falls in the season-opener.
Mechanicville opened the first half scoring on a Cruz Goverski header off a Logan Starks corner kick and minutes later Scotty Lynch split the posts on an indirect free kick from just outside the box giving Mechanicville a 2-0 advantage which they took into the break.
Mechanicville found the range three more times in the second half with Ethan Raucci, Graham Murphy and Landon Bronson all connecting on scoring tallies.
Late in the match Glens Fals avoided the shutout when Gavin Rittenhouse found the back of the net for the Bears.
Mechanicville keepers Mark Pingelski and Cam Morton combined for three saves in the win while Tucker Trippiedi turned back seven shots for Glens Falls.
Trailing 3-2 at the break, Cambridge knotted things in regulation and earned the win in the second overtime session in the season-opener for both squads.
Ashley Moses led the Cambridge attack with a pair of goals while teammates Jessica Robinson and Jessica Cofresi added single scoring strikes.
Laney Kaulinus, Ava Salvesvoid, and Lilliona Zwinge all found the back of the net for the Falls.
Between the posts Lexie Petersen saved 10 shots for Cambridge and Hoosick Falls keeper Lucy Haynes turned back six attempts.

After a scoreless first half of play Bolton-Warrensburg pulled away with three, second-half tallies to post the non-league win over the Valley.
Stillwater was on the board less than one minute into the match and controlled action throughout in their shutout victory over South High on Wednesday.
Brooke Coon finished an Elliot Patenaude find just :52 in, giving Stillwater the 1-0 lead.
Later in the half they doubled their advantage when Ashley Coffey tallied off a Brooke Hodgson feed and Stillwater took a 2-0 lead into the break.
Late in the second half Emmersyn Patenaude wrapped up the scoring off Hodgson’s second assist of the match and Stillwater closed things out earning the season opening “W”.
