Monday Results: Mechanicville Tops the Valley, Fordians Best Bengals

Mechanicville 4   Hoosic Valley 0

Mechanicville connected on three first half tallies on their way to the comfortable win in Schaghticoke.

Declan Charette with a pair of goals, and Scotty Lynch and Ethan Raucci with single scoring strikes led the Mechanicville attack.  Logan Starks set up two scores, while Lynch and Charlie Weiss assisted on one goal each.

Mechanicville keepers Mark Pingelski and Brady combined for six saves and with the Mechanicville defense for the shutout.

With the win Mechanicville runs its incredible unbeaten streak in Wasaren play to 90, with a mark of 88-0-2 over an eight-year span.

 

Waterford 3   Tamarac 1

The Fordians ran out to a two-score advantage and held off Tamarac for the home win under the lights Monday night.

Logan Sheehan started the scoring for Waterford, splitting the posts from 20 yards out, 10 minutes into the match giving the Fordians a 1-0 edge.

Later in the half Blake Guertin cleaned up a loose ball, finding the back of the net for a 2-0 Waterford advantage.

Just before the break Tamarac got on the board when Owen Blakesley cashed in a breakaway cutting the hosts lead in half.

Midway through the second half Guertin wrapped the scoring on the evening connecting on a PK giving Waterford the 3-1 lead which they rode to the “W”.  

Fordian keeper Logan Kelley saved six shots in the match while Bengal keeper Sebastian VanSluyters turned back 16 attempts on the night for Tamarac. 

 

Cambridge 2   Salem 0

After a scoreless first half of play Cambridge used second half tallies by Kelly Sweet and Natalie Wood to slip past Salem on Monday afternoon in Cambridge. 

Cambridge keeper Lexie Petersen needed just two saves to earn the clean sheet while Salem keeper Kaleigh Schwab, under fire all day, saved 34 shots in the game. 

 

Hoosick Falls 5   Waterford 0

Aidan Flemming fired a two-under round of 35 to lead the Falls to the shutout over the Fordians in action at Fairways of Halfmoon on Monday.

Other top scores for Hoosick Falls included Brady Mann 39, Spencer Tate 40, Dylan Callahan 42, Dylan Gauthier 45 and Jack Shea with a round of 46.

Waterford scores included Tanner Machia 43, Jonny Atwood 46, Evan Cavosie 48, Landon Pitcher 52, and Billy Scunziano with a round of 53.

Hoosick Falls improves to 10-1 on the year with the win, and Waterford slips to 4-10 with the loss.  

 

Spa Catholic 5   Cambridge/Salem 0

Tyler Hicks carded the low round of 37 leading the Saints to the sweep of C/S at the Hoosick Falls Country Club.

The Saints Cole Cefalu, Landon Lockwood, Mark Mahay and JP Galarneau along with Hicks all earned points in the win for Spa Catholic.  

 

Greenwich 5   Hoosic Valley 0

The Witches Erik Wade and Brayden Stutzman with rounds of 42 shared medalist honors in the Greenwich “W” at the Battenkill Country Club on Monday.

Joining Wade and Stutzman in the winner’s circle were teammates Sam Ziehm, Omar DeJesus, Richie Coon and Peter Wade.

With the win Greenwich moves to 8-4 on the season while the Valley falls to 2-10 with the loss.
