Falls, Valley, Fordians Post Soccer Wins

Hoosic Valley 5   Meekel Christian 1

Hoosic Valley built a 3-0 lead by the break on their way to the comfortable, nonleague win over Mekeel on Saturday.

A pair of Hannah Coffin goals sandwiched around a Kaylee Smith tally gave the Valley an early three-goal cushion and after intermission Hoosic Valley extended the lead to 5-0 on Coffin’s third goal of the match and a Kalleigh Knickerbocker score.

Mekeel avoided the shutout when Hannah Wilkenson connected on an unassisted tally late in the game.

Hawk keeper Lily Ruepp saved five shots in the win.

Hoosick Falls 3   Berne-Knox 1

In a game knotted at 1-1 after the first half of play, the Panthers connected on a pair of second half strikes and their defense shut down the B/K attack, sealing the nonleague win.

Grace Eastman tallied twice after the break and Ava Salvesvoid added a first-half goal to lead the Falls offensively.

Molly Laudato scored the lone B/K goal in the match.

Hoosick Falls keepers Lucy Haynes and Chaya Roden combined for six saves in the match and the Berne-Knox keeper combo of Morgan Krouse and Madelin Emmerich also stopped six shots in the contest.

Waterford 7   Madrid-Waddington 0

The Fordians jumped out to a 4-0 advantage by intermission and cruised to the shutout “W” over M/W.

Sam Caulkins and Mason Noto led the way for Waterford with two goals each, while teammates Christian Penk, Connor Belonga and Payton Galuski all added single strikes with Galuski assisting on four of the seven Fordian goals in the match.

Keeper Logan Kelly saved four shots and combined with the Waterford defense for the clean sheet.
