Waterford 4 Cambridge/Salem 1
After a scoreless first half of play, Waterford connected four times after the break and notched the Class C quarterfinal victory over Cambridge/Salem on Monday in Waterford.
Less than two minutes into the second half the Fordians got on the board when Logan Sheehan dribbled through multiple defenders and found the back of the net for a 1-0 advantage.
Waterford doubled their cushion one minute later on a Blake Guertin tally off a Sheehan find for a 2-0 lead.
Just seconds later Cambridge/Salem Alex Olsen found the range, scoring on a breakaway goal trimming the deficit to 2-1.
At the 50:00-mark Waterford’s Payton Galuski slammed home a penalty kick for a two-score Waterford lead and in the 65th minute Waterford’s Sam Caulkins capped the scoring, connecting on a 35-yard screamer and the Fordians closed things out to advance to the C semifinals.
