Wednesday Night Roundball: Falls, Mechanicville Earn “W’s”

Hoosick Falls 71   Granville 65

Leading Scorers:  Panthers – Carson Glover 21, 8 rebounds   Brady Mann 14    Ryan Sparks 12, 9 rebounds   Richie Stifter 11        Golden Horde – Matt Vladyka 28, 5 8’s   Liam Farrell 19

Key Stat:  The Falls made more free throws, 11 of 25, than Granville attempted with the Horde converting 5 of 9.  

Take Away:  Hoosick Falls put four players in doubles and came back from a 12-point deficit in the third quarter to notch the victory in Granville.

 

Mechanicville 85   Lake George 32

Leading Scorers:  Mechanicville – Cruz Goverski 27   Logan Starks 22, 7 3’s     Mike Santiago 17, 3 3’s   Mark Pingelski 10        LG:  Max Hohman 10

Key Stat:  Mechanicville held a 12-3 advantage in made triples.

Take Away:  Mechanicville ran out to a 26-4 lead after the first frame, extended their cushion to 47-10 at the break and cruised from there with four players reaching double figures in the home “W”. 

 

Corinth 55   Stillwater 39

Leading Scorers:  Corinth – Kaden Wright 15    Hunter Shanahan 13   Avery Wood 10       Stillwater – Mason Wagner 16, 4 3’s

Key Stat:  Corinth outscored their guests 22-8 over the middle two periods.

Take Away:  Corinth puts three players in doubles and holds Stillwater under 40 points in their season-opening win at home.  

 

Hadley Luzerne 57   Waterford 51

Leading Scorers:  Fordians – Logan Kelley 23, 19 rebounds    Tristan Philo 14, 4 3’s

Take Away:  Holding a slim 38-36 lead entering the final eight minutes, Luzerne used a 19-15, fourth to seal the home “W”.  

 

Cohoes 45   Hoosick Falls 43

Leading Scorers:  Panthers – Ava Case 19    Avery McMahon 10        Cohoes – Taylor H. 15    Maria F. 11

Key Stat:  A 14-7 second period for Cohoes proved decisive.

Take Away:  In a game that saw the Falls win the first and last quarters with the squads playing an even third stanza, Cohoes used a good second period to build a 25-20 advantage at the break and held off the  Panthers to secure the narrow, home win.  

 

Mechanicville 58   Greenville 44

Leading Scores:  Mechanicville – Tanner Eiseman 17     Molly DiSiena 15

Key Stat:  Mechanicville took control with a 22-2 first period.

Take Away:  Mechanicville built a 35-7 halftime lead and cruised to their second win in as many outings.
