Boys Hoops: Saints Winning Streak at 10, Falls Tops Valley

Saratoga Catholic 78   Waterford 42

Leading Scorers:  Saints – Ryan Gillis 12      Tyler Hicks 11            Fordians – Logan Kelly 15

Key Stat:  Spa Catholic led 21-6 at the end of the first frame.

Take Away:  The Saints met little resistance in notching the road win in Waterford.  They put 65 points on the board over the first three periods with Hicks and Gillis reaching doubles, while every Saints player scored on the night.  With the win Spa Catholic moves to 7-0, 12-1 on the season. 

 

Hoosick Falls 49   Hoosic Valley 39

Leading Scorers:  Panthers – Ryan Sparks 16, 10 rebounds       Carson Glover 14             Valley – Owen Harder 13 3, 3’s

Key Stat:  The Panthers connected on 13 of 21 free throws while the Valley converted 4 of 11 from the stripe.

Take Away:  The Falls built a 26-16 lead by the break and weathered a fourth quarter run by the Valley who pulled within two midway through the fourth.  Hoosick Falls answered with an Aiden Fleming triple pushing the Panther lead back to five and the home squad closed things out from there. 

Hoosick Falls improves to 6-1, 10-1 on the year while Hoosic Valley goes to 5-2, 10-2 with the loss.

 

Mechanicville 62   Stillwater 54

Leading Scorers:  Mechanicville – Cruz Goverski 22 4, 3’s      Chris Couser 18, 12 rebounds      Logan Starks 11 3, 3’s           Stillwater – Rocco Schneller 11

Key Stat:  Mechanicville held a 7-3 advantage in made threes.

Take Away:  Mechanicville won each of the first three quarters and led wire to wire in posting the home “W” over their neighboring rival.  Mechanicville goes to 5-2, 7-3 on the year with the win, while Stillwater slips to 2-5, 4-8 with the loss.  

 

Tamarac 53   Cambridge 26

Leading Scorers:  Bengals – Kam Edmonds 16 3, 3’s       Jacob Price 12            Tigers – Baxter Matteson 8

Key Stat:  Tamarac held Cambridge to single scoring numbers in three of the four periods.

Take Away:  Leading 29-17 at the break, Tamarac put the game away with a 18-3 third frame, cruising from there to the comfortable road win.  

 

Greenwich 72   Berlin/New Lebanon 32

Leading Scorers:  Witches – Joe Skiff 25      Will Weber 15       B/NL – Holtman 11

Key Stat:  The Witches held B/NL to 18 points through the first three quarters.  

Take Away: Greenwich won every period in earning the one-sided road decision over Berlin/New Lebanon.
