Friday Night Hoops: Saints Top the Valley, Bengals Best the Witches

Leading Scorers:  Saints – Tyler Hicks 18 3, 3’s      Ryan Gillis 11         Ronan Rowe 11               Valley – Wiley 13

Key Stat:  The Saints held an 11-2 advantage in made threes.

Take Away:  Spa Catholic built a 32-13 lead by the break and cruised from there to the home win over the Valley.  The Saints put three players in doubles and bottomed 11 triples in moving to 8-0, 13-1 on the year.

Tamarac 68   Greenwich 36

Leading Scorers:  Bengals – Dylan Ryan 16 4, 3’s     Sam Kuiken 14     Owen Glynn 12     Kam Edmonds 11       Witches – Cal Curtis 11

Key Stat:  Tamarac ran out to a 22-10 lead after the first period.  

Take Away:  The Bengals won every quarter and used a balanced attack, with four players in doubles, to notch the road win over Greenwich.

Mechanicville 87   Waterford 24

Leading Scorers:  Mechanicville – Cruz Goverski 19      Logan Starks 13, 3 3’s       Jack Salvadore 12 4,3’s     Fordians – Logan Kelly 11

Key Stat:  Mechanicville held Waterford to single scoring numbers in three of the four quarters.  

Take Away:  Mechanicville took control with a 23-6 first frame and never looked back in posting the one-sided decision over the Fordians Friday night in Mechanicville.  The home squad drilled 11 triples in the victory with five Mechanicville players ringing the bell from downtown.  With the win Mechanicville moves to 6-2, 8-3 on the season. 

Hoosick Falls 58   Berlin/New Lebanon 27

Leading Scorers:  Panthers – Ryan Sparks 18     Carson Glover 13         B/NL – Trevor Holtzman 9

Key Stat:  The Falls limited Berlin/New Lebanon to single scoring numbers in every period.

Take Away:  The Falls led 42-13 by the break and coasted from there to the home “W”.  Hoosick Falls is now 7-1 in Wasaren play and 11-1 overall.

Stillwater 57   Cambridge 56

Leading Scorers:  Stillwater – Rocco Schneller 20      Mason Wagner 14 4 3’s     John Williams 11      Cambridge – Maher 14     Yurschak 13

Key Stat:  Stillwater outscored their hosts 16-10 in the final frame.

Take Away:  In a back-and-forth game that saw Stillwater lead by one at the break, but trail 46-40 heading to the final eight minutes, the visitors used a solid fourth period to capture the road win.
