Boys Hoops: Falls, Witches Earn “W’s”

Hoosick Falls 59   Mechanicville 48

Leading Scorers:  Panthers – Carson Glover 19       Brady Mann 14 4, 3’s      Aiden Fleming 11          Mechanicville – Alex Shakow 14 3, 3’s       Cruz Goverski 13

Key Stat:  The Falls made more free throws than Mechanicville attempted knocking down 19 of 25, while Mechanicville connected on 6 of 11 from the stripe.

Take Away:  In a game that was tied at the break and saw Hoosick Falls leading 41-39 heading into the fourth frame, the Falls outscored their guests 18-9 over the last eight minutes to notch the home “W” and avenge a loss earlier in the season.  With the win the Panthers move to 9-1, 14-2 on the year.  

Greenwich 61   Hoosic Valley 47

Leading Scorers:  Witches – Cal Curtis 25 5, 3’s       Joe Skiff 19             Valley – Landon Reilly 17         Owen Harder 16    

Key Stat:  Greenwich used an 18-7 third quarter to take a double-digit lead.

Take Away:  Leading 30-29 at halftime, the Witches gained control with a big third period and held off the Valley for the home victory.  

Tamarac 74   Waterford 18

Leading Scorers:  Bengals – Kam Edmonds 27, 10 steals          Fordians – Logan Kelly 9        Tristan Philo 9 3,3’s

Key Stat:  Tamarac allowed just two Fordians to crack the scoring column.

Take Away:  The Bengals cruise behind a big night from Edmonds and stellar work at the defensive end, holding Waterford to single scoring numbers in every frame.  

Stillwater 74   Berlin /New Lebanon 28

Leading Scorers:  Stillwater – Mason Wagner 22 6, 3’s           B/NL – Seth Hendricks 6       Haukin Parker 6

Key Stat:  Stillwater jumped out to a 24-8 lead after the first period led by Wagner’s 13 points in the frame.

Take Away:  Stillwater put all 13 players in the scoring column and held Berlin/New Lebanon to 14 points through the first three quarters in posting the one-sided decision at home.  

 

Saratoga Catholic 63   Cambridge 35

Leading Scorers:  Saints – Tyler Hicks 15       Hunter Fales 13      Jasyn Thompson 11          Tigers – Tully Maher 11

Key Stat:  The Saints held a 10-3 advantage in made threes.

Take Away:  Spa Catholic led wire to wire in moving to 9-0, 15-1 on the year.

 

Spa Catholic 51   Warrensburg 45    (Girls)

Leading Scorers:  Saints – Sophia Ryan 26 4, 3’s        Grace Shaefer 12               Burghers – Zailey Baker 17    Eli York 17

Key Stat:  The Saints outscored Warrensburg 33-19 after intermission.

Take Away:  Trailing 26-18 at halftime Spa Catholic erased the deficit in the third and closed out the win in the fourth, Tuesday night in Saratoga.
