Saratoga Catholic Rolls Past Germantown, Advances to Class D Semis

Key Stat: The Saints held Germantown to 16 points through the first three frames.
Take Away: #3 Spa Catholic ran out to a 26-4 lead by the end of the opening quarter and cruised from there to the Class D quarterfinal win on Thursday night. The Saints advance to the semifinal round where they’ll meet #2 Hartford on Sunday at HVCC in a 6:00 run.

Take Away: Mechanicville trailed at the break thanks to a 29-point second frame by Schuylerville that saw the Black Horses bottom seven triples and take a 36-28 lead into halftime. But Mechanicville answered with a 24-8 third period led by Pingelski’s 11 points, and held off Schuylerville over the final eight minutes in posting a wild, opening round win in Class B.
#2 Mechanicville will face #7 Cobleskill in a Class B quarterfinal on Saturday at Guilderland in a 2:30 tip.

Key Stat: Greenwich took control with a 24-6 second frame.
Take Away: After an even first period, Greenwich dominated the rest of the way in claiming the Wasaren title for the fourth straight season. The Witches extend their remarkable unbeaten streak in Wasaren play to 59 and remain undefeated on the season at 20-0.

Key Stat: The Falls connected on 19 of 29 from the charity stripe, while the Saints converted 9 of 11 attempts.
Take Away: Holding a 40-38 advantage entering the final frame, Hoosick Falls held the Saints to seven points over the final eight minutes, posting the “W” in the Wasaren championship run. Hoosick Falls completes its regular season at 17-3 and Spa Catholic enters the post season with an 18-2 mark.
