Hitting Stars:  Saints – Ryan Gillis 3-run HR      Ronan Rowe 2 1B’s

Take Away:  Pierce carries a perfect game into the seventh frame in a dominating performance from the bump, and Gillis put the Saints on top to stay with a first-inning, three run homer leading Saratoga Catholic to the state title in Class C.

Saratoga Catholic completes a magical season at 27-1 including league, sectional, regional and state tiles.  Congratulations to Coach Lambert, the coaching staff and the Saints players on a historic spring campaign.    

 

 

Saints Advance to State Final, Mechanicville Falls in Semi’s

Hitting Stars:  Saints – Ronan Rowe 2-4, 3B, 2 RBI’s     Max Britten 1B, RBI

Take Away:  With the game tied 2-2 entering the final frame the Saints plated three, highlighted by Rowe’s run-scoring triple sending Spa Catholic to the Class C state title game on Saturday.  Carson Mosher and Luke Dejnozka combined on a four-hitter for the 26-1 Saints.  

Babylon 5   Mechanicville 4

Hitting Stars:  Babylon – John Stricoff 1B, RBI     Aiden Kistner 1B, RBI     Jake Ostertag 1B, RBI      Mechanicville – AJ Messercola 2 1B’s, 2B, 2 RBI’s     Jake Fedorowicz 1B, 2 RBI’s     

Take Away:  Mechanicville jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first inning on two-run singles by Messercola and Fedorowicz but were kept off the board the rest of the way.  Babylon plated a pair in the third and tied the game in the fourth on RBI singles by Kistner and Ostertag.  Babylon took the lead in the seventh on an RBI single by Stricoff and Mechanicville was retired in order in the bottom half of the frame.

Mechanicville ends an outstanding year at 18-7 including Sectional and Regional titles.   

Mechanicville, Spa Catholic Advance to Final Four, Stillwater Falls

Take Away: Mechanicville plated six runs on five hits in the third frame and Couser spins the three-hitter to lead Mechanicville past Canton in the Class B regional championship. Mechanicville (18-6) moves to the B semifinals and a matchup with Babylon (20-3) on June 13th at Mirabito Stadium in Binghamton at 4 p.m.

Hitting Stars: Saints – Pierce Byrne 2-3, RBI Hunter Fales 2-3, 3B, RBI Kihl Kelly 1-2, 3B, RBI

Take Away: The Saints (25-1) roll past Ti to earn the Class C regional championship and a state semifinal appearance where they’ll face Burke Catholic on June 13th at Union Endicott High School at 7 p.m.

Ticonderoga 4 Stillwater 3

WP: Drinkwine 7 IP 7 Hits 4 Runs 1 ER 5 BB’s 1 K LP: Eden Resch 7 IP 5 Hits 4 Runs 3 ER 1 BB 10 K’s

Hitting Stars: Drinkwine 2-3, 2B, RBI Johndrow 3B, RBI Stillwater – Eden Resch 3-4, RBI Katie Coogan 2-4

Take Away: Trailing 3-1 entering the sixth inning, Ti took the lead with a 3-run frame and held off Stillwater to secure the win in the Class C softball state regional championship. Stillwater scored single runs in each of the first three innings but went scoreless the rest of the way.

Stillwater (14-7) finishes an outstanding season including a six-game winning streak in post season play earning them a Section II Class C title and the school’s first state regional final appearance.

Take Away:  Couser and Messercola combine to limit Cobleskill to one run on five hits leading Mechanicville to the Section II Class B title.
