On a night where defensive play took center stage, Mechanicville broke through in the second half for the lone goal of the match which was all they would need in notching the victory over previously unbeaten Stillwater.
At the 66:35-mark Adrianna Loiacano found Gianna Nania who found the back of the net and the Mechanicville defense made it stand for the home “W”.
Mechanicville keeper Christina Bornt saved 10 shots in posting the shutout while Stillwater goal tender Ally Liamero turned away four shots in the loss.

With the game tied 1-1 at the break, Waterford erupted with four, second half strikes, pulling away from the Witches for the victory on Thursday night under the lights in Greenwich.
Mia O’Brien led the Fordians with a hat trick with Bayly Beauregard connecting once, and Riley Noto putting away a PK along with handing out three assists in the contest.
The Witches score came on an Elizabeth McQueen finish off a Sarah Radovich find.
Isabella Ramundo saved five shots between the posts for Waterford with Greenwich keeper Oliveah Reiszel saving 11 shots in defeat.

The Panthers built a 2-0 advantage by halftime and held off the Jesters for the win on a late-summer afternoon in Hoosick Falls
The Falls built the two-goal edge on an unassisted strike by sophomore Alivia Criscione from just inside the 18-yard box with the second tally off the left foot of eight-grader Laney Kasulinous from outside the box.
After intermission sophomore Grace Eastman extended the Panthers lead to 3-0, scoring from in close off a Kasulinous feed.
Emma Willard avoided the shutout when Clara Dow connected on an unassisted tally.
Hoosick Falls keeper senior Chayah Rhoden saved four shots in the win while Lucy Neidi saved 11 shots for the Jesters.
