Saturday Results: Stillwater Tops Voorheesville, Mechanicville Wins a Pair

Aidan Callanan threw for a pair of touchdowns and Ryan Brown ran for three more in Stillwater’s one-sided, road victory over the Blackbirds on Saturday.

Caleb Vacula got Stillwater on the board with a 60-yard touchdown run in the first and Brown added a 33-yard romp for six and the visitors led 13-0 heading into the second frame.

Callanan found Bryce Peterson on scoring strikes of five and 20 yards in the quarter, extending Stillwater’s lead to 27-0 heading into the break.

Two, third quarter touchdown carries by Brown of two and nine yards wrapped the scoring on the afternoon.

Callanan finished 6 of 7 for 70 yards in the game while Vacula ran for 183 yards on 10 carries with Brown rushing for 100 yards on 16 totes.

 

Mechanicville 3   Ichabod Crane 2   OT

Mechanicville snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, tying the game with :22 left in regulation and connecting on the game-winner in the extra session earning the road win over IC.

Trailing 3-2 with seconds remaining Ethan Rider sent the game in overtime when he found the back of the net, and David DiSiena finished off a long free kick from Alex Shakow for the deciding tally.

Aiden Fitzgerald scored in the first half of the match for Mechanicville’s opening goal.

Mechanicville keeper Brady O’Connor saved 12 shots in the win.

Mechanicville built a 4-0 lead by halftime and cruised to the win at home on Saturday.

Tanner Eiseman led the way with a four-goal effort, while Gianna Pitts added a pair of goals and Adianna Loiacono a single scoring strike.

Keeper Christina Bornt saved two shots in the victory for Mechanicville who extended their winning streak to seven. 

 

Waterford 6   Madrid-Waddington 0

The Fordians scored three times before and after intermission in posting the home “W” over M/W.

Waterford struck three times in four minutes late in the first half to take control.

Blake Guertin finished a Logan Sheehan cross at the 26th minute, followed by a Sheehan PK three minutes later, and Payton Galuski cleaned up a rebound for her first goal of the match sending the teams to halftime with the home squad holding a 3-0 cushion.

After the break Waterford’s fourth score came from Jake Catanzarita off a Galuski corner kick and Galuski wrapped the scoring in the match with a header off a Sheehan corner before connecting off a through pass from Sheehan for her third strike of the night. 

Fordians keeper Tristan Philo saved three shots in earning the shutout.
