After a scoreless first half the flood gates opened for the Mechanicville attack who found the back of the net five times, pulling away for the nonleague “W” over South High on Wednesday in Mechanicville.

Gianna Pitts led the charge with a hat trick while teammates Tanner Eiseman and Emma Andrews added single tallies.

South Glens Falls did not get a single shot on goal in the match, with Mechanicville firing 23 times at South High keeper Emmalee Sheeran who saved 12 shots in defeat.  

Cambridge 5   Salem 0

Holding a 1-0 advantage at the break, Cambridge rang the bell four times after intermission in posting the home win over Salem.

Nora Carroll scored a hat trick for the victors with Jillian Robinson adding a goal, Natalie Wood a goal and two assists, Emily DeSouza a pair of assists and Vanessa Robinson with a scoring find for Cambridge.

Cambridge keeper Lexie Pedersen saved six shots in the match combining with the Tiger “D” for the shutout.

Salem goaltender Kaileigh Schwab turned back nine shots in the loss.  

Greenwich 4   Stillwater 0     (Tuesday)

Greenwich built a 3-0 cushion by halftime on their way to the comfortable road victory over Stillwater on Tuesday.

Six minutes in, the Witches got on the board when Owen Shannon split the posts from 25 yards out for the 1-0 Greenwich lead.

With five minutes remaining in the half a Hudson Logan cross found a streaking Shannon whose header found the back for a 2-0 advantage.

Two minutes later the Witches extended their lead to three when Colin Traver’s header off a Shannon free kick connected.

Late in the game an unassisted tally by Christian Morency capped the scoring for Greenwich.  

Greenwich keeper Jack Scieszka saved three shots and combined with the Witches defense for the clean sheet.

Stillwater goaltender Tristan O’Brien saved 12 shots in the match.  

Hoosic Valley 3    Broadalbin 3   OT

The two squads battled through regulation and overtime but remained deadlocked at the end of play.

Tyler Jones with a pair of goals and Parker Gela with a single tally led the Valley attack.  

Waterford 8   Berlin/New Lebanon 1

The Fordians rang the bell four times in each half, notching the one-sided, road decision in the league-opener for both squads on Tuesday.

Connor Belonga led the scoring assault for Waterford with four goals, while Blake Guertin added a pair of strikes with Payton Galuski and Logan Sheehan adding single tallies for the Fordians.

Sheehan and Galuski assisted on two goals each with Guertin, Nick Frasier and Evan Bristol all adding goal-scoring finds.

B/NL’s goal came on a free kick in the first half by Van Dyke.

Waterford keeper Tristan Philo saved seven shots in posting the win and Healy and Turetsky combined to save 21 shots in defeat.

The two squads battled throughout regulation and overtime sessions with both teams showing their defensive prowess highlighted by Mechanicville keeper Brady O’Connor and C/S keeper Tyler Beadling.

The game-winner came three minutes into the second overtime when a loose ball in front was put away by Alex Shakow giving Mechanicville the road “W”.

O’Connor saved 10 shots in the victory.

Tamarac 3   Hoosick Falls 2   OT

Sam Kuiken connected twice in the match including the game-winner in overtime to lead the Bengals to the narrow victory over Hoosick Falls.

Anthony Garner added a single tally for Tamarac, while the Falls’ Aiden Eckert and Luke Nicholas with a goal each led the Panther’s attack.

It was a wild one at Hoosick Falls that saw a scoreless first half followed by a second half that where Greenwich built a two-goal cushion before the home squad finished with three unanswered scores to earn the “W”.

Early in the second half Emma Waugh finished a Liliana Zwinge find for the 1-0 Panther lead that was soon extended to a two-goal advantage when Zwinge put away a one-timer on a cross from Ava Salvesvold.

The Witches responded with an unassisted tally by Sarah Radovich,an own goal awarded to Olivia Warner and the game-winner by Eliza McQueen to earn the come-from-behind victory.

Witches’ keeper Oliveah Reiszel saved three shots in the match while Panther keeper Chaya Rhoden turned back four shots in the loss.  

Mechanicville 4   Hoosic Valley 1

Kolton Rinaldi and Ben Amato with rounds of 43 led the way for Mechanicville in the victory over the Valley in action at the Mechanicville Golf Course on Tuesday.

Matt Salvadore and Vinny Taylor joined Rinaldi and Amato with individual match wins, while the Valley’s Owen Harder in flight four notched a match win and a point for the visitors from Schaghticoke.

Panther senior Dylan Callahan fired a 2-over 36 to lead all golfers in the Falls victory at the Hoosick Falls Country Club on Monday.

Other top scores for Hoosick Falls included Spencer Tate 39, Jack Shea 40, Aidyn DeGraff 41, Zach Houghton 43, Quinn Haynes 45, and Memphis Hathaway with a round of 46.

Top Waterford scores included Jonny Atwood 40, Dylan Day 44, Tanner Machia and Bradley O’Connor with 45’s, Landon Pitcher 46 and Billy Scunziano with a 9-hole score of 49.

In action at Frear Park Golf Course on Monday the Bengals Graham Painter, Jacob Bieg and Nate Smith all won their individual matches leading Tamarac to the narrow win over Stillwater.

Stillwater’s Tye Morris and Vincent Festa posted wins for the visitors while Tamarac’s Jack Becker and Stillwater’s Daniel Degrasse split the point in flight two.  

With the win Tamarac improves to 2-5 on the year.

C/S used single tallies from Oliver Hickland and Alex Olsen to get past B/W in a nonleague matchup on Monday at Salem.

C/S keeper Tyler Beadling played well in goal and picked up his first varsity win.

Corinth built a 2-0 lead by the break and held off Cambridge for the road win on Monday.

Isabella Craig and Chloe Hall found the range in the first half for the visitors and Natalie Wood drew Cambridge within one, connecting on a second half scoring strike.

Corinth keeper Alexis Hall saved four shots in the win while Cambridge keeper Lexie Pedersen turned back 21 shots in the match.

Unatego 70   Hoosic Valley 26     (Friday)

Unatego ran out to a 27-0 lead after the first frame and cruised from there to the comfortable win over the Valley on Friday in eight-man football.

Hoosic Valley quarterback Aydin Wiley completed 8 of 12 pass attempts for 156 yards and a pair of scoring strikes.  

The Valley’s Carter Simpson led the receivers with 123 receiving yards on six receptions, two for scores while Landon Lanoue rushed for 113 yards on 27 carries and two touchdowns to lead the Valley ground attack.

Next up for Hoosic Valley is a Friday night get together with Corinth in a 4:30 start in Schaghticoke.

Stillwater 3   Plattsburgh 1

Stillwater trailed briefly in the match but finished the game with three unanswered strikes to post the nonleague “W” over Plattsburgh on Sunday.

Amaya Abbelard give Plattsburgh a 1-0 lead when she connected at the 26:00 mark of the game, but that advantage would be short-lived.

Four minutes later Stillwater tied things on an unassisted tally by Brooke Coon, and the two squads entered the break knotted at 1-1.

Ten minutes into the second half it was Coon again with her second score of the contest, this one giving Stillwater the 2-1 lead and Peyton Perretta wrapped up the scoring in the match finishing a Brooke Hodgson feed at the 66:00 mark.

Ally Liamero saved seven shots in the win as Stillwater moves to 5-0 on the season.

Stillwater used a three-goal first half to take control on their way to the nonleague win over Waverly.

A pair of Brooke Coon unassisted tallies and a Peyton Perretta finish off a Brooke Hodgson find staked the home squad the 3-0 halftime lead.

Early in the second half Stillwater’s Callen Baisley connected for the final score of the match.

Mechanicville built a 2-0 advantage by the break and made it stand holding off Broadalbin and battling Mother Nature on a rain-soaked Saturday in Mechanicville.

Graham Murphy and Evan Zupan connected on scoring strikes off feeds from Alex Shakow and Aidan Fitzgerald for all the offense that the home team would need in a match that was played in a downpour after the break.

Brady O’Connor saved eight shots and with the Mechanicville defense, earned the shutout while Broadalbin keeper Taylor saved seven shots in the loss.

Waterford 4   Schuylerville 1

Leading 1-0 at the break, the Fordians pulled away with three second-half tallies to notch the win in their season-opener on Saturday under the lights at Fordian Stadium. 

Waterford’s Blake Guertin cleaned up a misplayed goal kick by Schuylerville for the lone score of the first half.

The Fordians carried the lead for the first ten minutes of the second half before the visitors evened things at 1-1 on a low rocket by Tyler.

But Waterford finished the match with three unanswered.

The Fordains regained the lead on a free kick when Jake Catanzarita finished off a gorgeous pass from Logan Sheehan.

Four minutes later it was Payton Galuski’s turn taking a Connor Belonga pass and connecting from just outside the 18-box for the two-goal advantage.

Late in the half Sheehan wrapped the scoring on the night putting a PK into the back of the net for the 4-1 final.

Waterford keeper Philo saved nine shots in the victory.

Joining MacDougal in the winner’s circle were teammates James Beagle, Corbin Hall, Connor Genevick and Brigid Toleman.

Cambridge moves to 3-2 win the win while Tamarac slips to 1-5.

Abe Cushing and Preston Peabody combined for 295 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns to lead Cambridge/Salem past HF/Tam on Friday night.

Cushing scored on runs of 72, 8 and 6-yards while Peabody added a 2-yard TD and a 44-yard tote for six. 

C/S led 26-14 at halftime and maintained a double digit lead the rest of the way in earning the season-opening victory. 

Mechanicville 29   Stillwater/Spa Catholic 21

In a tight game throughout that was knotted at 21-21 with just over three minutes remaining, Mechanicville quarterback Stephen Doty found Carson Beattie on a 25-yard scoring strike and with the two-point conversion Mechanicville held a 29-21 advantage.

On the ensuing possession Stillwater/Spa Catholic drove to the Mechanicville one-yard line and were poised to punch it in with 1:15 on the clock.  But the home squad put the ball on the ground, fumbling the snap and Mechanicville recovered and ran out the clock for the “W” in the season-opener for both squads.

Senior running back Jordan Barnes led a Mechanicville ground game that ran for more than 200 yards, with 162 yards on 20 carries.  Sophomore fullback Jonathon Harris added 35 yards on 12 totes and two touchdowns, while Doty finished with 25 rushing yards and a touchdown to go with the game-winning aerial strike.  

Greenwich 2   Chatham 1  OT

In first round action at the Mayfield Tournament, Greenwich needed extra sessions before notching the narrow victory over Chatham.

After a scoreless first half the Witches struck first on an unassisted tally by Noah Speanburg with 33 minutes left in regulation.

Chatham connected on the equalizer at the 15:00 mark, when Oliver Carroll finished a corner kick with a bicycle kick that found the back of the net.

In overtime Greenwich’s Noah Ives carried the ball towards the right corner and delivered a cross that found a streaking Speanburg for the put away and the hard fought “W”.  

Greenwich keeper Jack Scienszka saved 4 shots in the match while Chatham keeper Mason Hutchinson saved 10.

Granville 5   Spa Catholic 2

Granville ran out to a 3-0 lead by the break and held off the Saints to post the road victory in Saratoga.

Five different Golden Horde players tallied with Cameron Rathbun, Matthew Ruigrok, Carter Lehoisky, David Bailey and Alex Rozell all connecting on scoring strikes for Granville.

Zachary Streicher and David Redgrave scored second half goals for the Saints.

Stillwater’s Nick Rose carded the low round of 40 leading the way to the win over the Panthers at Saratoga Lake Golf Club on Friday,

Other top scores for Stillwater included Tye Morris and Daniel DeGrasse-Izzo with rounds of 41, Julian Peluso and Vincent Festa with 45’s, Logan Surkan 52, and Jack Luskin with a round of 54.

Top scores for Hoosick Falls were Dylan Callahan, Zach Houghton, Spencer Tate and Aidyn DeGraff all with rounds of 43, Jack Shea 45, Memphis Hathaway 50 and Quinn Haynes with a nine-hole score of 55.

Daniel Degrasse-Izzo fired the low round of 37 to lead Stillwater past the Valley in a Wednesday match.

Stillwater’s Jack Luskin earned a point with a match win as did Hoosic Valley’s Jackson Shrom in flight five.

Stillwater’s Julian Peluso and Hoosic Valley’s Owen Harder split the point in flight two and in flight three Stillwater’s Nick Rose and the Valley’s Keigan Antolick halved the point as well.

Stillwater moves to 2-1 on the year with the win.

Leading 2-1 at the break, Bolton scored four unanswered goals in the second half to pull away from the Valley.
