Boys Soccer: Mechanicville, Cambridge Advance

Mechanicville used goals from Lawton Bronson and Aiden Fitzgerald along with a big defensive effort, to post the first-round win in Class B over Watervliet/Heatly on Wednesday night in Mechanicville.

Mechanicville keeper Brady O’Connor needed just two saves to earn the shutout as #3 Mechanicville advances to the quarterfinal round, hosting a matchup with #6 Voorheesville on Friday.  

 

Cambridge/Salem 1   Mayfield 0

With 20 minutes left in the first half C/S’s Rowan Ossont took a throw-in from Luke LeBlanc, beat a pair of defenders and found the far post for the only tally of the match sending C/S to the opening round win in Class C.

Brady Brownell and Josh LaFountain led the C/S defense in shutting down the Mayfield attack.

C/S moves on to the quarterfinals on Monday, facing the winner of Granville/Maple Hill.

 

Coxsackie Athens 3   Tamarac 0

After a scoreless first half, C/A used a pair of scoring strikes in the first seven minutes of the second half to take control, on their way to the first-round win in Class B.

Ben Hoglund and Asa Perino connected early in the half while Joe Perino closed the scoring with a late tally sending C/A to a quarterfinal matchup with Cobleskill/Richmondville on Friday.

 

Broadalbin-Perth 4   Hoosick Falls 0

B/P broke open a 1-0 game at the break with three second-half goals to notch the win in the opening round of Class B action on Wednesday.
