
The Stillwater girls soccer team knows how to play on the defensive side of the ball. They’ve allowed just six goals this season, and fifteen times this year have kept opponents off the board including in nine of their last ten outings.
Last night in Lansingburgh, top-ranked Stillwater once again leaned on their defensive prowess holding Lake George at bay throughout and while Stillwater had several quality looks offensively none found the net in a scoreless regulation sending the Class C title game into sudden victory overtime.
And at the 87:35 mark it was just that for Stillwater when eight-grader Kameryn Van Pelt settled a rebounded shot by Bridget Coon and connected on the game-winner giving Stillwater their second straight Class C Soccer Championship.
Stillwater keeper Ally Liamero saved five shots in the match and combined with the Stillwater defense for yet another trademark shutout.
Lake George goaltender Addison Reinhold turned away 10 shots on the night for the Lakers.
Stillwater (19-1), who earned state titles in 2018 and 19 and were state runners-up last season, advances to face Ticonderoga of Section VII on Saturday in regional play.
