The Stillwater girls soccer team knows how to play on the defensive side of the ball.  They’ve allowed just six goals this season, and fifteen times this year have kept opponents off the board including in nine of their last ten outings.

And at the 87:35 mark it was just that for Stillwater when eight-grader Kameryn Van Pelt settled a rebounded shot by Bridget Coon and connected on the game-winner giving Stillwater their second straight Class C Soccer Championship.

Stillwater keeper Ally Liamero saved five shots in the match and combined with the Stillwater defense for yet another trademark shutout.

Lake George goaltender Addison Reinhold turned away 10 shots on the night for the Lakers.

Stillwater (19-1), who earned state titles in 2018 and 19 and were state runners-up last season, advances to face Ticonderoga of Section VII on Saturday in regional play.

With 18:00 left Pitts split the posts for her third scoring strike of the match giving Mechanicville the two-goal advantage that lasted just one minute as Schuylerville quickly responded when Mia Oshal connected.
