Hoosick Falls 3 Argyle 1

Trailing 1-0 in the early going Hoosick Falls scored three unanswered to post the come-from -behind “W” over Argyle.

Luke Nicholas, Max Salvesvold and Aiden Eckert all found the back of the net for the Falls while Kaden Bush tallied twice for Argyle.  

Greenwich 1   Northville 0

Greenwich’s Penny Allen scored with 7:53 left in the first half and the Witches made it stand, posting the narrow victory at home over Northville on Wednesday.

Greenwich keeper Oliveah Reiszel saved 11 shots and combined with the Witches defense for the clean sheet.

Northville keeper Zoie Crow turned away 15 shots in the loss.

Mechanicville 2   Schuylerville 2

Mechanicville built a 2-0 lead by the break, but the Black Horses responded with a pair of second half strikes of their own and the two squads settled for the tie in this nonleague matchup.

David DiSiena and Graham Murphy found the range with first half tallies for Mechanicville.

Dean Barraclough and Hayden Peck rang the bell with second half scores for the home squad.

Mechanicville goal tender Brady O’Connor saved eight shots in the match.  

Lake George 3   Hoosick Falls 1

Lake George ran out to a 3-0 lead by halftime and held off the visitors from Hoosick Falls for the non-league win.

Midway through the first half Mykah Collier-Fischer got Lake George on the board, finishing a cross from Piper Brown for the 1-0 lead.

At the 31:00 mark it was Collier-Fischer again, this time on an unassisted strike to give the home squad a 2-0 advantage.

With 6:00 left in the half Clara Palladine scored on a one-timer off a Collier-Fischer find giving Lake George a three-goal cushion.

Early in the second half the Panthers trimmed the deficit when Kaydence Kellen connected on a direct kick from 30 yards out, but Lake George held the Falls at bay for the remainder to seal the “W”.

Lake George keeper Addison Reinhold saved two shots in the match while Hoosick Falls goal tender Chayla Rhoden saved three.  

Whitehall 2 Cambridge 0

After a scoreless first half of play Aurora and Ariya Eggleston connected on second half tallies to lead the Railroaders past Cambridge in a nonleague match on Wednesday.

Railroader keeper Khole Paddock with nine saves earned the shutout for Whitehall, while Lexie Pedersen saved 18 shots for Cambridge.

Stillwater 3 Hoosic Valley 2

Daniel Degrasse-Izzo fired the low round of 37 to lead Stillwater past the Valley in a Wednesday match.

Stillwater’s Jack Luskin earned a point with a match win as did Hoosic Valley’s Jackson Shrom in flight five.

Stillwater’s Julian Peluso and Hoosic Valley’s Owen Harder split the point in flight two and in flight three Stillwater’s Nick Rose and the Valley’s Keigan Antolick halved the point as well.

Stillwater moves to 2-1 on the year with the win.

Bolton 6 Hoosic Valley 1

Leading 2-1 at the break, Bolton scored four unanswered goals in the second half to pull away from the Valley.

Hannah Coffin connected on a first half strike for the Hoosic Valley score, while Goodspeed led the Bolton attack with a hat trick in the match.

Stillwater 3   Mechanicville 2

In action at the Saratoga Lake Golf Course on Tuesday Stillwater’s Tye Morris carded a 1-under round of 35 to lead Stillwater to the narrow “W” over Mechanicville. 

Daniel Degrasse-Izzo and Julian Peluso won their individual matches to earn points for Stillwater.

Mechanicville’s Brody Landy and Vinny Taylor posted match wins in flights four and five for the visitors points in the match.

With the win Stillwater evens their mark at 1-1 while Mechanicville (5-1), suffers their first loss of the year ending a winning streak that spanned 44 matches.   

Cambridge/Salem 2   Corinth 0

Cambridge/Salem used a pair of Luke LeBlanc goals and stout defensive play throughout to post the nonleague win over Corinth.

Leblanc put C/S on the board with 0:36 remaining in the first half, finishing a through ball from Nolan Thomas for the 1-0 advantage.  

With seven minutes left in the match LeBlanc capped the scoring with an unassisted tally and the C/S defense closed things out for the victory.

C/S keeper Juan Espinosa saved two shots and combined with the C/S defense for his first career shutout.

Corinth keeper Phillip Richardson turned back eight shots in defeat.

Throughout a scoreless first half and much of the second half defense took center stage in this nonleague matchup.   With 20 minutes remaining Greenwich connected off their fifth corner kick of the match when Wyatt Skiff sent a rocket that seemed online for a score but Colin Traver crashing hard made sure and the Witches came away with the 1-0 victory.

Jack Scieszka saved 4 shots for Greenwich while Bolton keeper Maris Martin turned back five shots in defeat.

Stillwater 2   Schuylerville 1

Stillwater used a goal early, and another late to post the narrow “W” over Schuylerville in Stillwater on Friday.

Brooke Hodgson started the scoring just 2:30 into the first half finishing a Brooke Coon find for the 1-0 Stillwater lead.

The visitors knotted things at the 48:40 mark on an Alexandrea Hill tally, but 20 seconds later Stillwater regained the lead on Hodgson’s second strike of the match, again coming off a Coon feed and Stillwater closed things out from there to secure the win.

Stillwater keeper Ally Liamero turned back 11 shots in the victory and Black Horse keeper Theresa Allen saved five in the loss.

Mechanicville 5   Waterford 37

Matt Salvadore continued the heater he’s been on firing the low round of 37 in Mechanicville’s shutout “W” over Waterford in action at the Mechanicville Golf Club on Friday.

Joining Salvadore in the winner’s circle were teammates Ben Amato, Colton Rinaldi, Brody Landy and Vinnie Taylor all posting individual match wins.

Mechanicville stays perfect on the year moving to 5-0 with the victory, while Waterford slips to 3-2 on the season.

Hoosick Falls 4   Hoosic Valley 1

Dylan Callahan earned medalist honors carding a one-over 35 leading the Panthers past the Valley at the Hoosick Falls Country Club on Thursday.

Top scores for the Falls included Spencer Tate 39, Jack Shea 40, Quinn Haynes 43, Zach Houghton 44, Memphis Hathaway and Lincoln Colvin with rounds of 58.

Top Valley scores included Keegan Antolick 37, Craig D’Avella and Ryan Morrisey with rounds of 45, Jackson Schram 46, and Owen Harder and Reid Ricciardone with nine-hole scores of 47. 

Hoosick Falls 4.5   Spa Catholic .5

Spencer Tate with the low round of 41 led the way in the Panther victory on Friday at Saratoga Spa Golf Course.

Low scores for Hoosick Falls included Jack Shea 43, Dylan Callahan 44, Quinn Haynes 45, Aidyn Degraff 46 and Zach Houghton with a round of 47.

Top scores for the Saints were Mark Mahay and JP Galarneau with 43’s, Cole Cefalu and Jack Rosborough  with 49’s, and Jason Pescetti with a round of 54.

With the win the Falls moves to 4-1 on the season.

Cambridge/Salem 3.5   Hoosic Valley 1.5

Cambridge’s Luke MacDougal carded a one-over 35 claiming medalist honors in action at the Hoosick Falls Country Club on Friday.

James Beagle and Corbin Hall earned points for Cambridge with match wins in flights 2 and 4, with Owen Harder picking up a point for the Valley in flight 3.

Cambridge’s Connor Genevick and Hoosic Valley’s Ryan Morrisey split the point in flight 5, as did Cambridge’s Cody Donisthrope and the Valley’s Reid Ricciardone in flight 6. 

Greenwich 3 Amsterdam 0

Greenwich opened their season in style posting a shutout of Class A Amsterdam in a match played in Greenwich on Thursday.

Eliza McQueen put the Witches on the board with an unassisted tally at the 30:58 mark of the first half and that score stood for the remainder of the half.

After the break Emily Gonzalez gave Greenwich a 2-0 advantage when she connected on a direct kick at the 34:05 mark.

With 3:21 remaining in the match McQueen closed out the scoring splitting the posts for her second goal of the afternoon.

Greenwich keeper Oliveah Reiszel saved two shots and combined with the Witches defense for the clean sheet.

Amsterdam keeper Gemmie Rivera, under constant pressure throughout, turned back 17 shots.

Mechanicville 3 Tamarac 2

In a match played at Frear Park on Wednesday Mechanicville’s Matt Salvadore led all golfers with a low round of 41, leading the visitors to the narrow “W” over the Bengals of Tamarac.

Ben Amado and Brody Landy earned points for Mechanicville with match wins, while Nate Smith and Jacob Bieg won their individual matches, notching points for Tamarac.

With the win Mechanicville moves to 4-0 on the season with Tamarac slipping to 0-4 with the loss.

Greenwich 1   Schuylerville 0

 The season-opener for both squads saw an even match throughout with few scoring opportunities for either team as both defensive units limited quality looks to put points on the board.

After a scoreless first half of play, that theme continued until late in the second when the Witches Noah Speanburg slotted a through ball to Mason Foster, and to prevent an easy put away, a Schuylerville defender took Foster to the ground setting up a penalty kick that Jonathon Morency lasered to the back of the net for the 1-0 Greenwich lead.

The Witches defense did the rest, holding off late pressure by Schuylerville to close the Black Horses out and post the non-league win.

Greenwich keeper Jack Scieszka saved four shots and combined with the Greenwich defense for the shutout.   

Schuylerville keeper Ethan Spodnick turned back six shots in the loss.   

Stillwater 4    Maple Hill 0

Stillwater girls opened their season in style, scoring a pair of goals in each half while defensively pitching a shutout in the 4-0 victory over Maple Hill.

Emersyn Patenaude got the scoring started splitting the posts off a Brooke Coon find and later in the half it was Bridget Coon finishing a Brooke Hodgson feed staking Stillwater to a 2-0 advantage heading into the break.

In the second half Bridget Hodgson joined the scoring parade connecting on an unassisted tally and Patenaude wrapped up the day with her second goal of the match, again coming off a Brooke Coon assist.

Stillwater keeper Ally Liamero saved six shots and combined with the Stillwater defense for the clean sheet.

Cambridge 3   Waterford 2

Cambridge’s Luke MacDougal fired a three-over round of 37 to lead Cambridge to the narrow victory over the Fordians in action at the Hoosick Falls Country Club on Wednesday.

Jonny Atwood earned a point for Waterford with a match win in flight three, and Cambridge’s Corbin Hall notched a point for the home squad with a win in flight four.

In flight two Waterford’s James Beagle and Cambridge’s Landon Pitcher split the point as did Waterford’s Tanner Machia and Cambridge’s Connor Genevick in flight five.

With the win Cambridge moves to 1-2 on the year and Waterford suffers their first loss of the year and goes to 3-1 on the season.   

Waterford 3.5   Tamarac 1.5

Waterford freshman Tanner Machia carded the low round of 42 in leading the Fordians past Tamarac in a match played at Fairways of Halfmoon on Tuesday.

Four Waterford golfers finished just one stroke behind Machia with rounds of 43 including Dylan Day, Billy Scunziano, Landon Pitcher and Jonny Atwood with Bradley O’Connor firing a round of 48 for the Fordians.

Top Tamarac scores included Adam Quackenbush 42, Jacob Bieg 43, Jack Becker 45 while Nate Smith and Troy Karz posted rounds of 47.

With the win Waterford improves to 3-0 on the year while Tamarac slips to 0-3 to start the season.

Mechanicville 4   Hoosick Falls 1

In a match played Tuesday morning at the Mechanicville Golf Club, Matt Salvadore found his home course much to his liking carded a 1-over par 37, claiming medalist honors and leading Mechanicville to the win over Hoosick Falls. 

Joining Salvadore with match wines were teammates Ben Amato, Kolton Renaldi and Vinny Taylor.

Spencer Tate with a win in flight three earned the Panthers point in the match.

With the win Mechanicville improves to 3-0 on the season while the Falls suffers its first setback of the year and goes to 2-1. 

John Rooney, a 2015 graduate from Hoosic Valley, received two important calls on Sunday in his baseball journey, the first being a call to the big leagues by the parent club Houston Astros, the second a wave of the left hand by Astros manager Joe Espada signaling to bring Rooney into the game in the sixth inning at Camden Yards in Baltimore.

The big left-hander walked the first batter he faced before ending the frame by striking out Dylan Beavers. In the seventh Rooney retired the first two batters he faced the allowed a solo homerun before ending the inning with a punchout of Colton Cowser.

Rooney, wearing number 67, threw 23 pitches, 14 for strikes in his 1.1 innings of work.

Houston dropped a 3-2 decision to Baltimore on Sunday but currently lead the American League Western Division by a game and a half with a season mark of 72-59.

Let’s hope the former Hoosic Valley star can be a key contributor for Houston as they battle for a play-off spot with 30 games remaining in the regular season.

Mechanicville 4   Spa Catholic 1

Matthew Salvadore carded the low round of the match firing a 37 to lead Mechanicville past the Saints of Saratoga Catholic in action at the Mechanicville Golf Course on Monday morning.

Joining Salvadore with match wins for Mechanicville were Koltan Rinaldi, Vinny Tayler and Brody Landy.

Cole Cefalu, with a win in flight two earned the point for Spa Catholic.

With the victory Mechanicville moves to 2-0 on the year, while the Saints mark goes to 1-1 on the young season.

Hoosick Falls 4   Cambridge 1

In a match played at the Hoosick Falls Country Club on Tuesday, Cambridge’s Luke MacDougal claimed medalist honors carding a 1-under round of 33, but the home squad swept the remaining four flights to post the “W”.

Scores for the Falls included Dylan Callahan 37, Ayden DeGraaf 41, Jack Shea, Zach Houghton and Quinn Haynes all with rounds of 43, Spencer Tate and Memphis Hathaway with 47’s and Carter Stratton with a round of 61.

Scores for Cambridge included Connor Genevick 46, Corbin Hall 48, James Beagle and Cody Donisthrope, with 50’s, and Brigid Toleman with a nine-hole score of 52.

Hoosick Falls improves to 2-0 with the victory.

Waterford 4 Stillwater 1

The Fordians Billy Scunziano fired the low round of 41 in Waterford win in a match played at Fairways of Halfmoon.

Other scores for Waterford included Jonny Atwood 42, Landon Pitcher 43, Dylan Day 44, Tanner Machia 46 and Bradley O’Connor with a round of 48.

Top scores for Stillwater included Tye Morris 21, Julian Peluso 43, Daniel DeGrasse 44, Nick Rose 45, and Vincent Festa’s round of 48.

Waterford goes to 2-0 on the season, and Stillwater drops to 0-1 on the year.
