Take Away: After an even first quarter the Witches used a big second, to build a 27-16 cushion at the break and held off the visitors from Mechanicville for the home “W”.

Key Stat:  The Panthers held Waterford scoreless in the second frame.

Take Away:  The Falls started with a 20-6 first period and cruised from there to the home victory over Waterford.

 

Spa Catholic 52   Hoosic Valley 40    Tuesday

Leading Scorers:  Saints – Hury 15    Thompson 10    Redgrave 10         Valley – Logan Reilly 18

Key Stat:  The Saints outscored their hosts 21-12 in the fourth quarter.

Take Away:  In a tight game throughout Spa Catholic owned a 31-28 advantage entering the final eight minutes where they used a big fourth to close out the road win in Schaghticoke.  

 

Stillwater 46   Cambridge 45    Tuesday

Leading Scorers:  Stillwater – Rocco Schneller 17 3, 3’s     Mason Wagner 13          Cambridge – Yakubic 13, 4, 3’s      Yurshak 10

Take Away:  In a tale of two halves Stillwater built a 31-20 lead by the break, but Cambridge battled back and took the lead late on a Yakubic triple, only to see the Stillwater answer with Rocco Schneller scoring the final five points of the game as the host squad prevailed.

Leading Scorers:  Mechanicville – Molly DiSiena 25    Ava Gaspie 15     Riley Lapierre 10

Key Stat:  Mechanicville held the Fordians to singles scoring numbers in every quarter.

Take Away:  Mechanicville built a 35-16 lead by halftime and cruised from there to the home win over the Falls.

Take Away:  In a close game throughout with the two squads knotted 36-all at the end of three quarters, Hoosic Valley used a big fourth to earn the home “W”.

 

 

Witches Capture Tournament Title

Leading Scorers:  Witches – Brooke Kuzmich         Unatego – Craft 10

Key Stat:  Greenwich used an 18-5 third period to gain the lead.

Take Away:  In a low scoring run in Delhi, the Witches trailed 18-16 at the break but parlayed a big third frame into the win in the championship game of the Dick Alwine Memeorial Tournament.  Brooke Kuzmich and Olivia Davis were selected to the all-tournament team.  

 

Tamarac 51   Bishop Gibbons 43

Leading Scorers:  Bengals – Owen Glynn 18    Sam Kuiken 16        Gibbons – Starr 19

Key Stat:  Tamarac allowed just 43 points in the contest.

Take Away:  The Bengals move to 2-0 on the season with a big defensive effort in the Coaches vs. Cancer event at Fulton Montgomery Community College.

Key Stat:  Berne-Knox outscored the Saints 31-20 after the break.

Take Away:  Spa Catholic ran out to a 16-10 lead after the first period, but Berne-Knox trimmed the deficit to 29-25 by halftime, knotted things at 41-all after three and won the decisive fourth frame to earn the road “W”.

Take Away:  Holding a slim 24-21 lead at the break, the Witches outscored the Academy 38-17 the rest of the way to earn the opening round “W” in the Dick Alwine Memorial Tournament in Delhi.

Key Stat:  Lake George held the Fordians to four, first half points.

Take Away: In a low scoring affair in Lake George Friday night, the home squad used a 15-11 final frame to get past the visitors from Waterford.

Key Stat:  The Falls made more free throws, 11 of 25, than Granville attempted with the Horde converting 5 of 9.  

Take Away:  Hoosick Falls put four players in doubles and came back from a 12-point deficit in the third quarter to notch the victory in Granville.

Take Away:  In a game where no more than three points separated the squads at each quarter break, Hoosic Valley uses a big night from Reilly and clutch shooting from the stripe late, to post the road “W” over Cohoes.

Take Away:  Mechanicville ran out to an 18-3 advantage after one period of play and cruised from there to the road “W”.  The visitors put three players in doubles and finished with eleven assisted buckets and eleven steals defensively in the win.
