Several Wasaren squads took to the floor Friday night in tournament runs as holiday hoops wrap up over the weekend.
Girls Basketball
Hoosic Valley 33 Maple Hill 20: Cami Hren scored 16 points, half of the Valley’s total and nearly enough to match the Hilltopper offense, as the Indians posted the win in a low scoring affair. Continue reading

Hoosic Valley 29 Hoosick Falls 27
Leading Scorers: Valley – Alex Rifenburg 9 Cami Hren 8 Falls – Logan Thrane 10

Congratulations to a pair of Hoosick Falls Panthers, Lizza Ryan and Guy Milliman, our newest recipients of the Wasaren Player of the Week award.
Last week Lizza scored eight points in a 53-45 win over Cambridge, and poured in 17 points in a 52-45 defeat of Greenwich on Friday. The senior guard is averaging 11.2 points per game for the 5-0 Panthers.
Guy dropped 23 points in a 53-45 “W” over Cambridge, and scored 14 points in a Friday night run helping the Falls cruise past Greenwich 74-36. The junior guard is scoring 17.5 nightly in leading the Panthers to a 4-0 start to the season.
Congratulations Lizza and Guy, this week’s Wasaren Sportsnet Players of the Week.

I like numbers. Always have, and I understand at times you can make them say whatever you’d like. But there’s also truth in numbers, and in the sports world analytics are taking over.
These numbers certainly aren’t to that extent, but provide a look at individuals, and teams in a few important categories. We can see that Mechanicville likes to shoot three’s, and that Greenwich has two of the top 10 scorers in the Wasaren, and as always the numbers show us that the Valley can guard. Continue reading

A big Friday night on the hardwood for Wasaren squads with the Panthers of Hoosick Falls posting a pair of wins to stay perfect on both the girls and boys side of things. Continue reading
