Wednesday Results: Stillwater, Mechanicville Post Wins in Girls Soccer

Stillwater 11   Cambridge 1

Leading 4-1 at the break, Stillwater exploded for seven goals after intermission, cruising to the road win in Cambridge on Wednesday.

Bridget Coon with a hat trick and Brooke Hodgson with a pair of hits led the visitors attack that saw Brooke Coon, Finley Bornt, Allison Callahan and Lucy Rubenstein all add single tallies in the match.

Stillwater keeper Ally Liamero saved three shots in the win, while Lexie Petersen turned away 20 shots in defeat. 

 

Mechanicville 7   Hoosick Falls 0

Mechanicville ran out to a 6-0 lead by halftime, on their way to the one-sided victory over the Panthers of Hoosick Falls.

Tanner Eiseman and Gianna Pitts both connected for hat tricks with Kyleigh Braoudakis adding a single strike to lead the Mechanicville assault.

Mechanicville goaltender Christina Bornt saved two shots in posting the shutout, and Hoosick Falls Brynn Lackey stopped four shots in the loss.

Mechanicville built a 3-0 halftime cushion and cruised from there to the road win over the Panthers.

Adam Shakow led the Mechanicville attack with a pair of goals, with teammates Aiden Fitzgerald, Ethan Rider and Josh Smith all adding single tallies, the first varsity goals for all three players.

The Falls avoided the shutout when Luke Nicholas connected on a second-half strike.

Mechanicville keeper Brady O’Connor saved just one shot in the win, while Hoosick Falls goaltender Richie Bartholomew turned back 20 shots in the loss.

 

Waterford 6   Tamarac 0

Waterford scored early and often, hitting six times before the break in posting the one-sided decision over the Bengals at Clum’s Corners on Tuesday.

Blake Guertin netted four scores in the victory with Payton Galuski adding a pair of strikes for the Fordians.

Waterford keeper Tristan Philo saved 13 shots and combined with the Fordian defense for the shutout.  

Bengal keeper VanSluyters saved 20 shots in defeat.

 

Greenwich 1   Hoosic Valley 0   OT

The match needed extra time to decide as both defensive units and keepers took center stage denying scoring opportunities throughout regulation.

The game-winner came four minutes into overtime when the Witches Owen Ives slid the ball to a cutting Owen Shannon for the finish and sudden victory for Greenwich.

Greenwich keeper Jack Scieszka saved five shots in the shutout while Valley keepers Travis Bleakley and Keenan Tompkins combined for 13 saves in the match.

 

Cambridge/Salem 4   Saratoga Catholic 0

Four different players rang the bell, and the C/S defense did the rest in notching the road victory over the Saints at Gavin Park in Saratoga on Tuesday.

Luke LeBlanc, Alex Olsen, Alejandreo-Augustin, and Ewan Lederer-Barnes all connected on scoring strikes with Olsen adding a pair of assists and Brady Brownell a scoring find as well in the win.

Mechanicville ran out to a 3-0 lead by halftime and put the game away with a five-goal second half, notching the win on Tuesday under the lights in Mechanicville.

Tanner Eiseman led the Mechanicville attack with a hat trick, Brooke Connors added a pair of goals, while Ella Manning, Gianna Nania and Jenna Manion all added single tallies.

Emma Willard did not take a shot on goal in the match. 

 

Stillwater 7   Hoosick Falls 0

Bridget Coon enjoyed a weeks’ worth of results in one half of play on Tuesday netting four goals before the break in leading Stillwater to the road win over Hoosick Falls.  

Emersyn Patenaude connected twice after intermission and Kanryn VanPelt added a single goal to round out the Stillwater scoring.

Stillwater goaltender Ally Liamero saved three shots and combined with the Stillwater defense for the shutout.

Hoosick Falls keeper Chayah Rhoden, under attack throughout turned back 27 shots in the match.

In a match where defense took center stage, the Witches Emily Gonzalez connected on an unassisted scoring strike with 25:43 remaining in the match and the Greenwich “D” made it stand for the home win on Tuesday night.

Greenwich keeper Oliveah Reiszel saved five shots in posting the shutout while goaltender Lily Onorato saved 15 shots for Tamarac. 

 

Cambridge 3   Berlin/New Lebanon 0  

Natalie Wood’s hat trick led the way in Cambridge’s road “W” over B/NL on Tuesday.

Wood hit once in the first half and twice after the break, more than enough offense as the Cambridge defense posted the shutout.

Cambridge keeper Lexie Pedersen saved 14 shots in the victory and B/NL keeper Emily Short turned away 11 shots in defeat.

 

Hoosic Valley 4   Waterford 2

After a back and forth first half that ended tied at 2-2, the Valley shut down the Waterford attack the rest of the way while ringing the bell twice in the second half to earn the home “W” in Schaghticoke on Tuesday.

Hannah Coffin put the home squad on the board just seven minutes in when she cashed on an arching shot from 30 yards out for the 1-0 lead.

Waterford quickly responded on a Mia O’Brien tally, knotting things at 1-1.  

The Valley regained the lead with 12:00 left in the half on Coffin’s second strike of the match, but the Fordians answered when Riley Noto connected just before intermission sending the teams into the break knotted at 2-2.

Coffin gave the Hawks the lead for good early in the second half, finishing a feed from Annabelle Bruette for her third goal of the afternoon and a 3-2 Valley advantage.

Sophia Akin added an insurance tally off a Sammy Graton find to wrap the scoring for HV.

Hoosic Valley keeper Lili Ruepp saved 20 shots in the win.

Holding a 2-0 lead at the break Greenwich exploded for seven, second half scoring strikes to cruise past Corinth for the nonleague victory.

Goals by Mason Foster and Wyatt Skiff staked Greenwich to a 2-0 advantage by halftime, before the floodgates opened.

Owen Shannon found the range three times in the second half, with Christian Morency added a pair of strikes and Hudson Logan and Noah Ives hit one time each for the Witches.

Greenwich keeper Jack Scieszka saved one shot on the win, while Corinth goaltender Noah Wentworth saved seven in the loss.

 

Mechanicville 4   Stillwater 1

Matthew Salvadore led the way with the low round of 38 in Mechanicville’s home win over Stillwater on Tuesday at the Mechanicville Golf Club.

Joining Salvadore with individual match wins were teammates Vinny Taylor, Kolton Rinaldi and Brody Landy.   

Daniel Degrasse-Izzo earned the Stillwater point with a win in flight two.

 

 

Greenwich Uses Big Fourth Frame to Get Past Cambridge/Salem

Greenwich 21   Cambridge/Salem 7

In a Saturday afternoon matchup between Class D rivals, both ranked in the top 10 in the state, Greenwich put together a pair of short, scoring drives in the fourth quarter to come away with the well-earned “W” over Cambridge/Salem.

The home squad led through much of the game after scoring on the opening drive, a seven play, 58-yard march capped by an 11-yard Abe Cushing touchdown run, giving the Tigers a 7-0 lead.  

The Witches also put points on the board on their opening possession culminating with a 1-yard quarterback sneak by Ryan Ingber but missed the point after and trailed 7-6.

That score stood until 10:43 in the final period when Greenwich, taking over on the Cambridge/Salem 48-yard line, needed just four plays to gain the lead on a 26-yard scoring strike from Ingber to Wyatt Jamieson and with the two-point conversion the visitors led 14-7.

C/S turned the ball over on downs on their next series with Greenwich taking over on the C/S 38-yard line.  Greenwich drove the field and put the game away on a Will Weber 5-yard scoring run with 3:15 remaining.  

Ingber finished with 57 rushing yards and 55 passing yards on 3 of 6 attempts.

Weber led the Witches ground game gaining 99 yards on 24 carries.  

 

Hoosick Falls 2   Mt. Anthony 0

Hoosick Falls used a pair of first half tallies and a stout defensive effort to post the nonleague win over the Patriots of Mount Anthony.

Alivia Criscione, on a cross from Kaydence Keelen, found the back of the net from just inside the 18-yard box for the 1-0 lead.

Shortly after it was Elizabeth DeRosa splitting the posts on a free kick for the Falls second and final goal of the match.

Panther keeper Chayah Rhoden saved 14 shots and combined with the Hoosick Falls “D” for the shutout.  

Patriot goaltender Fiona Polissno saved 25 shots in the loss.  

 

 

 

Saturday Morning Roundup: Stillwater/Spa Shuts Out Hudson Falls/Ft. Edward

Stillwater/Spa built a 21-0 lead by halftime, and the defense did the rest in the home win on Friday night in Stillwater.

Quarterback Aiden Callahan ran for 90 yards on 10 carries with a pair of scores and threw for 54 yards on 4 of 6 passing.

Bryce Petersen led the Still/Spa ground game with 95 yards on seven totes and two touchdowns, with Caleb Williams adding 23 yards and a rushing score for the home squad.

Stillwater/Spa Catholic, (1-2), put the game away with a 14-point third quarter while the Still/Spa defense stymied the HF/FE attack throughout.  

 

Fonda 34   Mechanicville 7

Fonda scored in every quarter and held Mechanicville off the board through the first three frames in posting the comfortable road victory on Friday night.

Mechanicville quarterback Stephen Doty threw for 133 yards on 12 of 20 including a 21-yard scoring strike to Michael Pugliese in the final period.

Carson Beattie led the Mechanicville receivers with seven catches for 71 yards, and Jacob Williams led the ground game with 41 yards on seven carries.

Fonda stays unbeaten at 3-0 with the win while Mechanicville slips to 1-2 with the loss.

 

Cobleskill 27   Hoosick Falls/Tamarac 26   OT

HF/Tam sent the game into overtime with a fourth quarter score and scored the first touchdown in the extra session before Cobleskill tied the game on a three-yard pass play and won it with the point after, under the lights at Hoosick Falls on Friday.  

The two teams played an even first stanza with HF/Tam scoring on a 13-yard touchdown connection from Jake Sparks to Trent Benedict, before Cobleskill answered with an 84-yard kickoff return to knot things at 6-6.

After a scoreless second period, HF/Tam gained the lead on an Owen Hart one-yard TD run and with the point after the home squad led 13-6.

The visitors responded, running back their second kickoff of the game for points, this one from 73 yards and with the PAT, tied the game at 13-13.

Cobleskill edged in front on a 3-yard touchdown run, taking a 20-13 advantage into the fourth frame.

Hf/Tam sent the game into overtime when Hart ran it in from five yards out and with the extra point the teams entered the extra session.  

HF/Tam used a nine-yard scoring run to take the lead but left the door open with a missed extra point attempt and Cobleskill took advantage scoring on a short pass and converting the point after for the road win.

 

Hoosic Valley 5   Cambridge 0

Five different Valley players rang the bell in the shutout victory over Cambridge in Schaghticoke on Friday.

Just five minutes in, the home squad tallied when Sophia Akin finished a Hannah Coffin find and the Valley was just starting, connecting three more times before intermission.

Ashleigh Herrington scored off a Kaylee Smith feed, Audrey Wiley was next with an unassisted strike, and Coffin wrapped the first half finding the net off a Herrington helper.

The final goal in the match came on a Sammy Gratton cross that Laura Rice put away to cap the scoring.

Hoosic Valley keeper Lili Ruepp saved four shots and combined with the Valley defense for the shutout.

 

Greenwich 5   Cambridge 0

Owen Shannon scored three times to lead the Witches past Cambridge/Salem in Greenwich on Friday.

Shannon put Greenwich on the board at the five-minute mark, finishing a Mason Foster feed for the 1-0 lead.  

Twenty minutes later Hudson Logan made it 2-0, putting away a Jonathon Morency feed and Shannon closed the half with a scoring strike from the top of the box off a Christian Morency look.

Wyatt Skiff extended the Witches lead to 4-0, cashing in a Levi Murray find, and later in the half Shannon closed the scoring when his hooking corner kick found the net for his third goal of the match.

Greenwich keeper Jack Scieszka saved four shots in earning the shutout, while C/S goaltender Tyler Beading saved eight shots in the loss.

 

Mechanicville 4   Cambridge 1

In action at the Mechanicville Golf Club Matthew Salvadore carded the low round of 37 to lead Mechanicville to the win over Cambridge.

Along with Salvadore, teammates Kolton Rinaldi, Ben Amado and Brody Landy all earned points for Mechanicville with match wins.

Connor Genevick with a win in flight four notched the Cambridge point.

Mechanicville improves to 9-3 with the win while Cambridge goes to 6-4 on the season with the loss.  

 

Hoosick Falls 4   Berlin/New Lebanon 1

Luke Nicholas with a hat trick and Aidan Eckert with a single tally led the Panthers to the home win over Berlin/New Lebanon.

Eckert and Troy Brown assisted on two of the four Panthers scores in the match.

B/NL avoided the shutout when Lucas Zuke connected on a direct kick in the second half.  

 

Thursday Results: Mechanicville Tops Stillwater, Falls, Fordians Earn “W’s”

On a night where defensive play took center stage, Mechanicville broke through in the second half for the lone goal of the match which was all they would need in notching the victory over previously unbeaten Stillwater.

At the 66:35-mark Adrianna Loiacano found Gianna Nania who found the back of the net and the Mechanicville defense made it stand for the home “W”.

Mechanicville keeper Christina Bornt saved 10 shots in posting the shutout while Stillwater goal tender Ally Liamero turned away four shots in the loss.  

 

Waterford 5   Greenwich 1

With the game tied 1-1 at the break, Waterford erupted with four, second half strikes, pulling away from the Witches for the victory on Thursday night under the lights in Greenwich.

Mia O’Brien led the Fordians with a hat trick with Bayly Beauregard connecting once, and Riley Noto putting away a PK along with handing out three assists in the contest.

The Witches score came on an Elizabeth McQueen finish off a Sarah Radovich find.

Isabella Ramundo saved five shots between the posts for Waterford with Greenwich keeper Oliveah Reiszel saving 11 shots in defeat.

The Panthers built a 2-0 advantage by halftime and held off the Jesters for the win on a late-summer afternoon in Hoosick Falls

The Falls built the two-goal edge on an unassisted strike by sophomore Alivia Criscione from just inside the 18-yard box with the second tally off the left foot of eight-grader Laney Kasulinous from outside the box.

After intermission sophomore Grace Eastman extended the Panthers lead to 3-0, scoring from in close off a Kasulinous feed.

Emma Willard avoided the shutout when Clara Dow connected on an unassisted tally.

Hoosick Falls keeper senior Chayah Rhoden saved four shots in the win while Lucy Neidi saved 11 shots for the Jesters.  

 

 

 

 

Mechanicville, Witches, Fordians Roll in Boys Soccer

Seven different Fordians found the back of the net as Waterford ran away from Spa Catholic under the lights in Waterford on Wednesday.

Fordians Logan Sheehan and Blake Guertin both scored hat tricks with Sheehan adding three assists and Guertin a pair to lead the attack.

Joining the scoring parade were Connor Belonga with two hits, and one-timers Payton Galuski, Jake Catanzarita, Colin Bouchard and Jackson Broderick with Bouchard and Jackson scoring their first career varsity goals in the match.  

Waterford keeper Tristan Philo saved four and with the Fordian defense posted the shutout.

Saints keeper Thomas Zayac, under siege throughout turned away 20 shots on the night.  

 

Mechanicville 6   Tamarac 1

Holding a 2-0 advantage at the break Mechanicville rang the bell four times in the second half to earn the comfortable home win over the Bengals. 

Graham Murphy with two scoring strikes and Evan Zupan, Dylan Miller and Anthony Mastropietro with single tallies led the way offensively for the home squad.

Tamarac avoided the shutout when Sam Kuiken netted a second half PK.

Mechanicville keeper Brady O’Connor saved seven shots in the win.

The Witches dominated on both sides of the ball scoring eight times while not allowing the Panthers a shot on goal defensively in posting the one-sided decision in Greenwich on Wednesday.

Greenwich spread the wealth with eight different Witches connecting in the match.

Hudson Logan opened the scoring finishing a Johnny Morency find for the 1-0 lead and the two switched rolls for the second goal of the contest with Logan finding Morency.

Wyatt skiff wrapped up the first half scoring finding the net from the right side of the box off another Morency feed.

After the break Noah Speanburg hit from long range, nestling the ball into the right-side netting from the left sideline for a 4-0 Greenwich advantage.

Christian Morency cleaned up a loose ball in the box for goal six, Colin Traver joined the scoring assault with a 35-yard rocket, Max Nichols next connected off a Skiff helper, and Owen Shannon closed things out by hooking a corner kick off the back post for the Witches final tally.

Hoosick Falls keeper Luke Nicholas saved 13 shots in the match.

C/S used single strikes from Edan Lederer Barnes and Alex Olsen along with a strong defensive effort to post the home “W” over Stillwater on Monday afternoon.

The Valley built a 2-0 advantage by the break on goals from Carter Simpson and Parker Gela and held off B/NL for the win in Schaghticoke.

Gabe Smith drew B/NL within one on a second half tally.

Luke MacDougal carded the low round of 38 in leading Cambridge past the Witches in action at the Hoosick Falls Country Club on Wednesday.

Joining MacDougal with match wins were teammates James Beagle, Connor Genevick and Brigid Toleman.

Dylan Brown earned the Greenwich point with a win in flight three.

Valley, Stillwater Post Shutouts, Mechanicville Rolls

Hannah Coffin scored a pair of goals and Kaylee Smith added a single tally in the Valley’s road win over B/NL on Tuesday.

Coffin got the visitors on the board 10 minutes in taking a Payton Gela throw-in to the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.

With 15 minutes remaining in the half Smith connected off a Coffin find for the 2-0 advantage.

After the break Ashleigh Herrington found Coffin who capped the scoring in the match with her second goal of the afternoon.

Bridget Coon rang the bell with an unassisted scoring strike in the first half, and the Stillwater defense made it stand, posting the shutout on Tuesday night in Stillwater. 

Stillwater keeper Ally Liamero saved two shots and combined with the Stillwater “D” for the clean sheet.

Witches goal tender Oliveah Reiszel turned away seven shots in the loss.  

With the win Stillwater remains unbeaten at 7-0 on the year.

Cambridge avoided the shutout when Lexie Pedersen scored on a PK in the second half.

Mechanicville keeper Christina Bornt saved five shots in the win while Cambridge keeper Lexie Pedersen , under siege throughout, turned back eight shots in the match.

Tye Morris claimed medalist honors with the low round of 37, leading Stillwater past Greenwich in action at the Saratoga Lake Golf Club on Tuesday.

Nick Rose and Vincent Festa won individual matches for Stillwater, while Richie Coon won his match and a point for Greenwich.

Stillwater’s Julian Peluso and Greenwich’s Dylan Brown split the point in flight three as did Stillwater’s Jack Luskin and Greenwich’s Brayden Stutzman in flight five.

With the win Stillwater moves to 5-3 on the year while Greenwich goes to 2-4 with the loss.

Eight Fordians found the range with scoring strikes in Waterford’s one-sided decision over Emma Willard on Tuesday.

Riley Noto and Mia O’Brien led the Waterford scoring parade with a pair of goals each, while Emily Faniff, Giselle D’Ambro, Rylan Charbonneau, Bayly Beauregard, Sophia Ledtke and Isabella Ramundo all added single tallies for the Fordians.

Isabella Savage and Isabella Ramundo split keeper duties for Waterford with neither recording a save.

Monday Results: Witches Top Tamarac, Fordians Down Stillwater

Greenwich 5   Tamarac 0

Tamarac built a 2-0 lead by halftime and pulled away with three unanswered after the break to notch the home win on Monday night.

Just three minutes in Mason Foster ran down an over-the-top feed from Levi Murray and finished for the 1-0 lead.  Five minutes later Noah Speanburg off a Johnney Morency find, tallied with a low rocket, near post, and the home squad led 2-0.

After intermission Greenwich put the game away scoring twice in the first seven minutes with Owen Shannon splitting the posts from the corner of the box and Morency converting a PK into the 4-0 Witches cushion.

Late in the match Noah Ives capped the scoring, cleaning up a loose ball that found the cross bar and back of the Bengal’s keeper on its way to the final Greenwich score of the evening.

Greenwich keeper Jack Scieszka saved one shot and combined with the Witches “D” for the shutout.

Tamarac goal tender Sebastian VanSluyters saved eight shots in the loss.

Waterford got on the board just ten minutes in when Logan Sheehan finished a Connor Belonga cross for the 1-0 lead. 

At the 23:00 mark Sheehan put a Payton Galuski through ball into the back of the net for a 2-0 Waterford advantage, and minutes later it was Galuski’s turn cleaning up a rebound for the 3-0 cushion

Early in the second half the visitors extending the lead when Blake Guertin connected on a 35-yard scoring strike.

Stillwater avoided the shutout with a Connor Gibson tally in the waning minutes of the match.

Fordian keeper Tristan Philo saved two shots in the game, while Stillwater keeper O’Brien, under siege throughout, turned back 27 shots in defeat.

Matthew Salvadore carded the low round of 38, leading Mechanicville past the Bengals at the Mechanicville Golf Club on Monday.

Brody Landy, Vinny Taylor and Dylan Salvadore all earned points in the match for Mechanicville, while Jack Becker and Jacob Bieg notched points for Tamarac.

With the win Mechanicville improves to 8-2 on the season and Tamarac slips to 2-6 with the loss.

Dylan Callahan fired the low round of 34 in the Falls win at the Battenkill on Monday.

Joining Callahan in the winner’s circle were teammates Jack Shea, Spencer Tate and Quinn Haynes who posted individual match wins.

Owen Harder earned the point for Hoosic Valley with a win in fight four.

Hoosick Falls moves to 8-2 on the year with the victory while Hoosic Valley falls to 1-8 with the loss.

Luke MacDougall carded a 2-over 36, claiming medalist honors for the seventh straight match, leading Cambridge to the win at the Hoosick Falls Country Club.

Jame Beagle, Corbin Hall and Brigid Toleman along with MacDougall all posted match wins for Cambridge.

Nick Rose earned the Stillwater point with a win in flight four.

Both squads season record now sits at 4-3.
