Mechanicville Marches on to the Regional Final

Key Stat:  Mechanicville won every quarter.

Take Away:  Leading Trailing 10-2 early, Mechanicville went on an extended 34-10 run before the break taking a 36-20 lead into intermission and never looked back in posting the regional semifinal win in Class B.

Mechanicville put four players in doubles in the comfortable “W”, extending their winning streak to 11 straight in coach Alex Lilac’s 100th career win.  They will face the winner of Marcellus vs. Potsdam this Saturday in the regional final at HVCC in a 12:45 run.  

Greenwich, Stillwater, Mechanicville Boys Advance to the Finals

Mechanicville 70   Voorheesville 61

Key Stat:  Mechanicville outscored Voorheesville 27-18 in the final frame.

Take Away:  With the two squads knotted at 43-all entering the fourth period, Mechanicville exploded for 27 points in the frame including cashing in 11 of 12 free throws, earning the Class B semifinal victory in Glens Falls on Tuesday. 

Mechanicville held an 11-5 advantage in made threes with five players ringing the bell from deep led by Starks who bottomed four from downtown.  They were clutch from the charity stripe connecting on 17 of 19 attempts and saw four players reach double figures in the “W”. 

 #2 Mechanicville advances to the Class B title game this Saturday at HVCC facing #4 Greenville in a 6:30 championship run. 

 

Stillwater 57   Berne-Knox 30

Leading Scorers:  Stillwater – Addison Thornton 17      Andie Luskin 13       Miranda Price 12        BK – Taylor Klefbeck 6        Annie Lendrum 6      Katie Stevens 6

Key Stat:  Stillwater took control with a 21-7 second quarter.

Take Away:  Trailing 12-10 after the first eight minutes, Stillwater used a big second frame to take a double-digit lead into the break and put Berne-Knox away with a 19-6 fourth quarter, posting the Class C semifinal win at HVCC Tuesday night.

Stillwater held BK to their season low point total limiting them to single scoring numbers in each of the final three periods.

#2 Stillwater put three players in double figures in moving to 21-2 on the season and advance to the Class C championship game on Saturday at HVCC where they’ll meet top-seeded Greenwich in a 2:30 clash.

Key Stat:  The Witches held Maple Hill to three points in the second quarter.

Take Away:  A 3-0 Maple Hill lead was short-lived erased by a 13-0 first quarter run from the Witches who never looked back in posting the Class C semifinal victory on Tuesday night at HVCC in Troy.

Greenwich put three players in doubles and defensively held Maple Hill to their lowest point total of the year.

#1 Greenwich, (23-0) advances to the Class C final on Saturday at HVCC and an all-Wasaren matchup with #2 Stillwater in a 2:30 tip.  

 

 

   

Panthers, Saints Fall in B, C Semifinals

Key Stat: Greenville held the Falls to 16 points in the first half.

Take Away: Greenville built a 25-16 lead by the break and held a 40-33 advantage entering the final frame where they closed out the win in the Class B semifinal at Cool Insuring Arena. Hoosick Falls finishes an outstanding season with a 19-4 mark and a Wasaren championship.

Duanesburg 50 Spa Catholic 48

Key Stat: Duanesburg outscored the Saints 18-12 in the final period.

Take Away: Duanesburg’ Jansen Proulx drilled a three-pointer off the right wing with 1.8 seconds remaining in regulation lifting Duanesburg to the win in a Class C semifinal in Glens Falls. Spa Catholic wraps up an elite season at 20-3.

Saints March to the Class D Final

Key Stat:  Spa Catholic opened with a 23-7 first frame.

Take Away:  The Saints used a fast start and a combined 53 points from Ryan and Whitbeck to get past #2 Hartford in a Class D semifinal on Sunday night at HVCC.  #3 Spa Catholic advances to the Class D championship run facing top-seeded Northville at Hudson Valley on Saturday at 11:00 

Mechanicville, Falls, Lady Bengals Advance

Key Stat:  Mechanicville held a 9-4 advantage in made threes.

Take Away:  Mechanicville built a 34-23 lead by the break and took total control with a 25-15 third frame, on their way to the Class B quarterfinal win at Guilderland.  Mechanicville won each of the first three periods, and put three players in doubles in running their winning streak to eight straight.  Next up for #2 Mechanicville is a semifinal run with #3 Voorheesville, Tuesday night at 8:00 at the Cool Insuring Arena. in Glens Falls.

Key Stat:  The Falls converted 16 of 24 free throw attempts while Tamarac connected on 5 of 8 from the stripe.

Take Away:  Trailing 21-18 at the break, Hoosick Falls used a 17-8 third quarter to gain the lead and held off the Bengals to earn the Class B quarterfinal victory Saturday night.  #1 Hoosick Falls used a solid defensive effort and balanced scoring with three in doubles to advance to Monday night’s semifinal game at Cool Induing Arena where they’ll face #3 Greenville.

Key Stat:  The Bengals held Catskill to single scoring numbers in three of the four quarters.

Take Away:  Holding a slim 32-30 lead entering the final frame, Tamarac allowed just one point over the final eight minutes in posting the Class B quarterfinal win in Mechanicville on Saturday.  #6 Tamarac combines a big night from Beaudoin and lockdown defense to advance to a Wednesday night quarterfinal at HVCC facing #2 Mechanicville in a 6:00 tip.

Take Away:  After a 4-4 first period #3 Spa Catholic built an 18-10 led by the break and took control in the third taking a 24-point cushion into the final eight minutes where they closed things out for the Class C quarterfinal win.  The Saints advance to the semifinal round where they’ll face #2 Duanesburg on Monday at the Cool Insuring Arena in a 5:00 run.  

Saratoga Catholic Rolls Past Germantown, Advances to Class D Semis

Key Stat:  The Saints held Germantown to 16 points through the first three frames.

Take Away:  Mechanicville trailed at the break thanks to a 29-point second frame by Schuylerville that saw the Black Horses bottom seven triples and take a 36-28 lead into halftime.  But Mechanicville answered with a 24-8 third period led by Pingelski’s 11 points, and held off Schuylerville over the final eight minutes in posting a wild, opening round win in Class B.  

#2 Mechanicville will face #7 Cobleskill in a Class B quarterfinal on Saturday at Guilderland in a 2:30 tip.
