Leading Scorers:  Panthers – Carson Glover 21, 8 rebounds   Brady Mann 14    Ryan Sparks 12, 9 rebounds   Richie Stifter 11        Golden Horde – Matt Vladyka 28, 5 8’s   Liam Farrell 19

Key Stat:  The Falls made more free throws, 11 of 25, than Granville attempted with the Horde converting 5 of 9.  

Take Away:  Hoosick Falls put four players in doubles and came back from a 12-point deficit in the third quarter to notch the victory in Granville.

 

Mechanicville 85   Lake George 32

Leading Scorers:  Mechanicville – Cruz Goverski 27   Logan Starks 22, 7 3’s     Mike Santiago 17, 3 3’s   Mark Pingelski 10        LG:  Max Hohman 10

Key Stat:  Mechanicville held a 12-3 advantage in made triples.

Take Away:  Mechanicville ran out to a 26-4 lead after the first frame, extended their cushion to 47-10 at the break and cruised from there with four players reaching double figures in the home “W”. 

 

Corinth 55   Stillwater 39

Leading Scorers:  Corinth – Kaden Wright 15    Hunter Shanahan 13   Avery Wood 10       Stillwater – Mason Wagner 16, 4 3’s

Key Stat:  Corinth outscored their guests 22-8 over the middle two periods.

Take Away:  Corinth puts three players in doubles and holds Stillwater under 40 points in their season-opening win at home.  

 

Hadley Luzerne 57   Waterford 51

Leading Scorers:  Fordians – Logan Kelley 23, 19 rebounds    Tristan Philo 14, 4 3’s

Take Away:  Holding a slim 38-36 lead entering the final eight minutes, Luzerne used a 19-15, fourth to seal the home “W”.  

 

Cohoes 45   Hoosick Falls 43

Leading Scorers:  Panthers – Ava Case 19    Avery McMahon 10        Cohoes – Taylor H. 15    Maria F. 11

Key Stat:  A 14-7 second period for Cohoes proved decisive.

Take Away:  In a game that saw the Falls win the first and last quarters with the squads playing an even third stanza, Cohoes used a good second period to build a 25-20 advantage at the break and held off the  Panthers to secure the narrow, home win.  

 

Mechanicville 58   Greenville 44

Leading Scores:  Mechanicville – Tanner Eiseman 17     Molly DiSiena 15

Key Stat:  Mechanicville took control with a 22-2 first period.

Take Away:  Mechanicville built a 35-7 halftime lead and cruised to their second win in as many outings.

Valley, Cambridge, Tamarac Post Non-League W’s

Hoosic Valley 59   Cohoes 56   OT

Leading Scorers:  Valley – Landon Reilly 23   Dem Neary 13, 3 3’s            Cohoes – Crable 17, 4 3’s    Milledge 13     Murley 10

Key Stat:  The Valley knocked down 6 of 8 free throws in the overtime session.

Take Away:  In a game where no more than three points separated the squads at each quarter break, Hoosic Valley uses a big night from Reilly and clutch shooting from the stripe late, to post the road “W” over Cohoes.  

 

Tamarac 54   Watervliet 30

Leading Scorers:  Bengals – Kayle Beaudoin 23, 5 3’s     Elizabeth Darling 14, 3 3’s    Morgan Hayden 12      Cannoneers – Leniyah Leslie 13

Key Stat:  Tamarac held a 9-2 advantage in made threes.

Take Away:  The Bengals put three players in doubles and used the long ball for half of their offensive production in notching the nonleague win over Vliet.  

 

Cambridge 45   Granville 29

Leading Scorers:  Cambridge – Megan Day 13   Brigid Toleman 11, 3 3’s      Golden Horde – Paige Taylor 9

Key Stat:  Cambridge outscored their guests 27-14 after intermission.

Take Away:  Holding an 18-15 lead at the break, Cambridge slowly pulled away over the final two frames, earning the nonleague victory over the Horde on Tuesday night.  

Mechanicville Breezes in Season-Opener, Saints Top Golden Horde

Mechanicville 61   Cohoes 18

Leading Scorers:  Mechanicville – Halee Pasinella 16, 3 3’s    Molly DiSiena 15   Ava Gaspie 11      

Key Stat:  Mechanicville held their hosts to single numbers in all four quarters.  

Take Away:  Mechanicville ran out to an 18-3 advantage after one period of play and cruised from there to the road “W”.  The visitors put three players in doubles and finished with eleven assisted buckets and eleven steals defensively in the win.  

 

Saratoga Catholic 59   Granville 47

Leading Scorers:  Saints – Sophia Ryan 35, 5 3’s    Addison Whitbeck 12      Golden Horde – Paige Taylor 22, 4 3’s    Ella Olsen 12

Key Stat:  After a high scoring first half the Saints held the Horde to eight points in each of the final two frames.  

Take Away:  Spa Catholic led 38-31 at the break, extended their advantage to 51-39 after three and closed things out over the final eight minutes, notching the home victory over Granville in the season-opener.  Ryan exploded for 26, first-half points, part of her 35-point effort to lead all scorers.  

Spa Catholic Tops North Warren in Tourney Final

Saratoga Catholic 68   North Warren 50

Leading Scorers:  Saints – Tyler Hicks 30, 5 3’s   Jasyn Thompson 11          NW – Semaj Cuyler 20    Elijah23- Horge 11

Key Stat:  The Saints used a 23-2 second period to take control.

Take Away:  Spa Catholic rides a 30-point night from Hicks and a big second stanza to capture the Mike Beeson Memorial Tournament championship.  

Greenwich Falls in Overtime in State Semifinal

Burke Catholic 25   Greenwich 18  OT

In a Class D state semifinal at Middletown on Friday, Burke Catholic forced overtime with a 22-yard field goal late in regulation, scored on the first play in overtime and kept Greenwich off the board in their overtime possession, securing the win to advance to the Class D title game.

Greenwich had built an 18-6 lead with five minutes remaining in the third frame on the strength of touchdown runs from Joe Radovich, Ryan Ingber and Jack Saunders before the late game surge by Burke Catholic.

The Witches complete and outstanding season at 10-2 with sectional and regional titles along with a state semifinal berth.  

 

Spa Catholic 51   Loudonville Christian 28

Leading Scorers:  Saints – Redgrave 12   Thompson 11         Loudonville Catholic – Bibighans 12

Key Stat:  The Saints held an 8-0 advantage in made threes.

Take Away:  Spa Catholic rolls in round one of the Mike Beeson Tournament in Saratoga and will face North Warren tonight at 7:30 in the championship run.  

Greenwich Runs Over Moriah

The Witches eased out to an 18-0 halftime lead and gradually pulled away to the Class D state quarterfinal win over Moriah on Saturday in Beekmantown.

Greenwich quarterback Ryan Ingber put the Witches on the board with a 20-yard scoring run and soon after connected with Jayden White on a 39-yard scoring strike giving Greenwich a 12-0 lead after the first period of play.

Joe Radovich extended the Greenwich lead with a 23-yard touchdown run in the second frame and after the break it was Radovich again, this time returning an interception 48 yards for six, giving the Witches a comfortable cushion at 26-0.

Will Weber closed out the scoring for Greenwich with a 4-yard TD run in the final period.

The Witches defense dominated throughout holding Moriah to 85 total yards in the first half and added three interceptions on the afternoon.     

With the win Greenwich moves to the state semifinal round and a matchup with Burke Catholic on Friday at 3 p.m., in Middletown.

Stillwater Falls in State Final

Byron-Bergen 1   Stillwater 0   OT

In a scoreless match through two halves of play, Byron-Bergen’s Mia Gray drilled the game -winner just 32 seconds into the first overtime giving Bees the victory and the Class C state title on Sunday in Cortland.

Stillwater keepers Ally Liamero and Miranda Price made several outstanding saves in the match and combined with the Stillwater defense to keep Byron-Bergen, (21-1- 1), off the board through regulation, before Gray, in the extra session, carried the ball to open space and connected giving the Bees sudden victory and their first state title in program history.

Stillwater, (19-2-1), finishes a remarkable season with Section and Regional titles as well as state runner-up.
