Girls Soccer: Cambridge Gets Past Hoosick Falls in Double Overtime

Cambridge 4   Hoosick Falls 3  2OT

Trailing 3-2 at the break, Cambridge knotted things in regulation and earned the win in the second overtime session in the season-opener for both squads.

Ashley Moses led the Cambridge attack with a pair of goals while teammates Jessica Robinson and Jessica Cofresi added single scoring strikes.

Laney Kaulinus, Ava Salvesvoid, and Lilliona Zwinge all found the back of the net for the Falls.

Between the posts Lexie Petersen saved 10 shots for Cambridge and Hoosick Falls keeper Lucy Haynes turned back six attempts.

 

Bolton-Warrensburg 3   Hoosic Valley 0

After a scoreless first half of play Bolton-Warrensburg pulled away with three, second-half tallies to post the non-league win over the Valley.  

Girls Soccer: Stillwater Tops South Glens Falls

Stillwater 3 South Glens Falls 0

Stillwater was on the board less than one minute into the match and controlled action throughout in their shutout victory over South High on Wednesday.

Brooke Coon finished an Elliot Patenaude find just :52 in, giving Stillwater the 1-0 lead.

Later in the half they doubled their advantage when Ashley Coffey tallied off a Brooke Hodgson feed and Stillwater took a 2-0 lead into the break.

Late in the second half Emmersyn Patenaude wrapped up the scoring off Hodgson’s second assist of the match and Stillwater closed things out earning the season opening “W”.

Stillwater keepers Miranda Price and Ally Liamero with one save each, combined with the Stillwater defense for the clean sheet.

Wasaren Golf: Witches Top Fordians

Greenwich 3.5   Waterford 1.5

The Witches Erik Wade carded the low round of 40 to lead Greenwich past Waterford in golf action at Fairways of Halfmoon on Tuesday.

Other scores for Greenwich included Braydon Stutsman 46, Sam Ziehm and Colby McCauliffe with 47’s, Cooper Skiff 49 and Jordan Young with a round of 51.

Top scores for Waterford included Evan Cavosie 44, Landon Pitcher 46, Jonny Atwood 47, and Dylan Day with a round of 55.  

With the win Greenwich goes to 1-0 on the season while Waterford drops to 1-2 with the loss.

Wasaren Golf: Mechanicville Moves to 2-0

Matthew Salvadore fired a crisp round of 36, earning medalist honors and leading Mechanicville past the Fordians of Waterford on Friday at the Mechanicville Golf Club.

Logan Starks, Nate Salvadore, Jack Salvadore Jacob Pickett and Ben Amato all posted individual match wins for Mechanicville who improve to 2-0 on the young season.

Dylan Day carded the low round of 45 leading the way to the Fordians sweep of C/S on Thursday at the Hoosick Falls Country Club.

Joining Day in the winner’s circle for Waterford were teammates Jonny Atwood, Evan Cavasie, Landon Pitcher and Billy Sconziano.

Mechanicville 5 Cambridge – Salem 0

Logan Starks claimed medalist honors with a four-over round of 38, showing the way in Mechanicville’s shutout victory over Cambridge-Salem on Thursday at the Hoosick Falls Country Club.

Matt and Nate Salvadore with rounds of 39 picked up match wins for Mechanicville as did Jacob Pickett and Jack Salvadore with forfeit “W’s”.

Chatham Tops Hoosick Falls in Class C Title Game

Take Away:  Chatham scored three times in the bottom of the first, added a pair of runs in the third, and Smalley and Van Alstyne combined for the three-hit shutout as Chatham earns the Class C title with the win over Hoosick Falls.  

Hoosick Falls ends their fine season at 14-7 including an impressive sectional run to the C final.
