Take Away:  Hoosick Falls trailed 2-1 after six frames but a Ryan Sparks’ double in the bottom of the seventh knotted things at 2-2, and the Panthers plated the winning score on a bases loaded groundout by Carson Glover in the eighth, moving to 2-0 in league play.

Key Stat:  Stillwater scored 16 unanswered points to finish the second frame.

Take Away:  Trailing 19-12 early in the second period, Stillwater went on a 21-4 run before the half and took a 33-23 advantage into the beak. That lead ballooned to 37-23 in the opening minutes of the third before Marcellus cut into the deficit closing the margin to 41-34 entering the final quarter.

With just under two minutes remaining Stillwater held a tenuous 54-50 lead, but Marcellus would draw no closer as Stillwater hit clutch free throws down the stretch, closing out their state title run with the Class B championship.

Stillwater completes a remarkable season at 27-1 including league, sectional, regional and state championships.  Congratulations to Coach Lilac, his staff, and most importantly the Stillwater players on a historic basketball campaign.  

Stillwater Downs Woodlands, Advances to Class B Title Game

Key Stat:  Stillwater outscored Woodlands 24-10 over the final eight minutes.

Take Away:  The Falcons led 43-40 heading into the final frame, but Stillwater switched defensively to man-to-man, holding Woodlands to 10 points in the quarter, including six minutes without a field goal and earned the come-from-behind “W” in a Class B state semifinal at Cool Insuring Arena on Thursday. 

Stillwater, 26-1, will face Marcellus, 25-1, from Section III in a 5:15 championship tip today at the CIA.

Take Away:  Stillwater held a slim 30-28 lead at the break but used, a big second half, including a 21-10 fourth frame to seal the victory in a Class B regional final at SUNY Potsdam on Saturday.  With the win Stillwater moves to the semifinal round where they’ll face Woodlands of Section I on Thursday at the Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls.

Key Stat:  Stillwater ran out to a 34-3 lead after eight minutes of play.

Take Away:  Stillwater put four players in doubles and ended this one early building a 46-11 halftime advantage on their way to the one-sided decision in a Class B regional at Shenendehowa on Tuesday.  #1 Stillwater advances to a state quarterfinal on Saturday at SUNY Potsdam where they’ll face #4 Canton, a squad Stillwater defeated 83-60 in December.
