Stillwater/Spa Catholic 21    Canajoharie/Fort Plain 7

After giving up a first quarter touchdown, the Stillwater/Spa Catholic defense shut the door while their offense scored 21 unanswered the rest of way in the home victory on Saturday.

Trailing 7-0 at the end of the first frame, Stillwater/Spa used second quarter, scoring runs by Ryan Brown and Aidan Callanan to take a 14-7 lead into the break.

After a scoreless third quarter, Stillwater/Spa Catholic put the game away when Caleb Vacula ran it in from 30 yards out capping the comeback “W”. 

Vacula led a potent Still/Spa ground attack, that gained 300 yards, with 143 yards on 15 carries, with Callanan adding 90 yards on 14 carries and Brown running for 60 yards on eight totes.

 

Hoosic Valley 4   Canajoharie/Fort Plain 2

The Valley built a 2-0 halftime lead, extended it to a 3-0 cushion and then held off C/FP late to the post the nonleague road win.

Hannah Coffin opened the scoring, finishing a Kaylee Smith feed for the 1-0 advantage, and Smith and Sophia Akin soon after made it 2-0 working a nice give and go with Smith on the finish.

Early in the second half it was Smith beating the Canjo keeper with a header off a Coffin corner for the 3-0 Valley lead.

C/FP whittled the advantage to 3-2 with a pair of strikes before Audrey Wiley put the game away with five minutes remaining, finding the opposite corner off an Akin find.

 

Hoosick Falls 0   Johnstown 0

Defense ruled the day as the two squads battled through regulation and overtime to the draw. 

Falls keeper Chayah Rhoden saved 17 shots in the match while Johnstown goaltender turned back 16 attempts.    

 

Maple Hill 4   Waterford 1

Michael Buono’s hat trick led Maple Hill to the home win over the Fordians of Waterford on Saturday.

The home squad led 2-0 at the break and extended their lead to 3-0 early in the second half before Waterford connected on their only goal in the match when Logan Sheehan split the posts. 

Maple Hill added a tack on goal in the final minutes of the game. 

 

Voorheesville 3   Mechanicville 2

With the game knotted at 2-2 through one half of play, Voorheesville connected for the only second-half score to notch the road win over Mechanicville. 

David DiSiena and Graham Murphy netted first half strikes for Mechanicville in the loss.

 

 

Friday Night Results: Greenwich Rolls Over Rensselaer, Mechanicville Falls to V’liet

Greenwich 71   Rensselaer 6

Greenwich scored offensively, defensively and in the return game in a dominant effort, as they posting the win under the lights in Greenwich Friday night.

Witches quarterback Ryan Ingber threw a pair of touchdown passes in the first frame and ran for another finding Micheal Cronin and Ethan Mullen through the air to go with a 27-yard run for six.

Kayden Bentley added a return score in the period for Greenwich who led 28-0 heading into the second quarter.

The Witches scored five more times in the second on Ingber’s third scoring strike, finding Langston Hall, a pair of Will Weber touchdown runs, a safety, and Ingber’s second rushing score of the night, extending the Greenwich lead to 57-0 at the break.

Jameson Dobson and Henry Logan capped the Witches scoring with second half rushing td’s.

Ingber finished the night completing all six of his pass attempts for 87 yards and running for 47 yards on four carries.

Weber led the Greenwich ground game with 111 yards on eight totes. 

 

Watervliet 14   Mechanicville 6

Watervliet held a 6-0 lead at halftime and held off their hosts to notch the road win Friday night in Mechanicville.

Running back Jordan Barnes accounted for Mechanicville’s score on a third period, 3-yard touchdown run.  Barnes finished the night with 131 yards gained on 26 carries.

Alex Olsen’s hat trick led the way to Cambridge/Salem’s road win over Stillwater.

Luke LeBlanc added a pair of goals and Oliver Hickland a single tally to round out the C/S attack.

Stillwater scored when Connor Gibson cashed in on a penalty kick. 

 

 

Wasaren Girls Soccer: Waterford Tops Mechanicville

Waterford 2   Mechanicville 0

Waterford used single scoring strikes from Mia O’Brien and Elizabeth Lamere along with a big defensive effort to post the home win on Thursday night.

Fordians keeper Isabella Ramundo saved 11 shots and combined with the Waterford defense for the shutout.

 

Tamarac 2   Hoosic Valley 0

After a scoreless first half, Tamarac wasted little time getting on the board, tallying in the first minute of play when Abigayle Ackner finished a Kylie Gross find for the 1-0 lead. 

The Bengals added an insurance goal with 10:00 remaining when Ackner connected again, this one coming from just outside the 18 off a feed from Kendall Bulson and the visitors from Clum’s Corners closed things out for the road “W” in Schaghticoke. 

 

Hoosick Falls 2   Berlin/New Lebanon 1

The Panthers Grace Eastman broke a 1-1 deadlock with a second half strike leading the Falls to the home victory over B/NL.

Elizabeth Darosa staked the Panthers to a 1-0 lead with a first half tally, but the visitors knotted things early in the second half on an unassisted score by Savannah Humon setting up Eastman’s game-winner.

Hoosick Falls keeper Chayah Rhoden saved nine shots in the win while B/NL goaltender Charlie Young saved 10 in defeat.

 

Greenwich 1   Cambridge 0

In a match highlighted by dominant defensive play, the Witches Eliza McQueen connected for the only score of the night, splitting the posts with an unassisted strike with 29:51 left in the game giving Greenwich the home “W” on Thursday.

Greenwich keeper Oliveah Reiszel saved five shots in earning the shutout while Cambridge goaltender Lexie Pedersen turned away 18 shots for the visitors. 

 

Waterford 3   Hoosick Falls 2

Hoosick Falls Jack Shea carded the low round of 37, but the Fordians prevailed, posting the slim victory over the Panthers in action at Fairways of Halfmoon on Thursday.

Top scores for Waterford included Tanner Machia and Bradley O’Connor with rounds of 42, Landon Pitcher 43, Billy Scunziano 45, Jonny Atwood 47, and Dylan Day with a round of 49,

Top Hoosick Falls scores included Quinn Haynes 44, Zach Houghton 45, Aidyn DeGraffe 46, Dylan Callahan 47 and Spencer Tate with a nine-hole score of 50.  

 

 

     

 

Cambridge, Greenwich Post Wins in Boys Soccer

Cambridge/Salem 3   Hoosick Falls 1

C/S built a 2-0 lead by halftime, added a second half strike and kept the Falls off the board throughout in posting the home win on Wednesday.

Ewan Lederer-Barnes gave C/S a 1-0 lead, finishing a Henry Dill feed and later in the half Oliver Hickland found Josh LaFountain for the 2-0 advantage.

After the break LaFountain’s second goal of the match extended the home squads lead to 3-0.

Hoosick Falls avoided the shutout when Max Salvesvold and Luke Nicholas ran a give and go with Nicholas finding the back of the net.

 

Greenwich 7   Stillwater 0

The Witches ran out to a 5-0 lead by the break and cruised to the home win over Stillwater on Wednesday night.

Five minutes in, Mason Foster put Greenwich on the board cleaning up a loose ball in front, and Owen Shannon quickly followed up finishing a Jonathan Morency feed for a 2-0 advantage.

Levi Murray added goal number three, stealing a pass, carrying it and unleashing a rocket from 25 yards out for the score.

The final two goals of the half came when Noah Ives connected off a Shannon find and an own goal by Stillwater.

After the break, Christian Morency joined the scoring parade on a putback, and Ives closed things out with his second tally of match.

Greenwich keeper Jack Scieszka saved two shots in the win while Stillwater goaltender Jayden Mwale turned back eight shots in the loss.

Daniel Degrasse-Izzo led the way for Stillwater carding the low round of 37 in action at the Saratoga Lake Golf Club on Tuesday.

Joining Degrasse-Izzo with individual match wins for Stillwater were Tye Morris, Nick Rose and Vincent Festa.

Wasaren Girls Soccer: Valley Tops Emma Willard

Hoosic Valley 3   Emma Willard 0

Hannah Coffin with a pair of goals and Payton Gela with a single strike provided the offense and the Valley defense did the rest in the Hawks victory in Schaghticoke.

Coffin gave the Valley a 1-0 lead, finishing a Kaylee Smith feed and added her second goal of the match on an unassisted scoring strike. 

Later in the game Smith found Gela who found the back of the net for the final tally.

Valley keeper Lily Ruepp saved eight shots in the win.  

Tamarac 1   Cambridge 0

Kendall Bulson connected with a second half tally and the Bengal defense made it stand in Tamarac’s road win over the Tigers.

Bengal keeper Lilly Onorato saved eight shots in the win, while Cambridge goaltender Lexie Pedersen turned away 26 shots in the loss.

Mia O’Brien led the way with a hat trick in the Fordians comfortable win over the Falls on Tuesday under the lights in Waterford.

Emily Faniff, Piper Morris, Bayly Beauregard, and Sophia Ledtke added single goals in the Waterford victory.

Fordian keeper Isabella Ramundo saved five shots and combined with the Waterford defense to post the shutout.

Mechanicville 5   Greenwich 1

Leading 2-1 at the break Mechanicville scored three unanswered after intermission to notch the road win on Tuesday night.

Gianna Pitts led the visitors attack with a hat trick while teammate Tanner Eiseman added a pair of scores.

Greenwich avoided the shutout when Penny Allen connected with a first half tally.

Mechanicville keeper Christna Bornt saved seven shots in the win and Witches goaltender Oliveah Reiszel saved 15 shots in defeat.

Stillwater 10   Berlin/New Lebanon 0

Seven Stillwater players rang the bell with six strikes coming before halftime in Stillwater’s one-sided decision over B/NL on Tuesday.

Bridget Coon, Brooke Hodgson and Kamryn Van Pelt all connected twice with Brooke Coon, Lucy Rubenstein, Finley Bornt and Kamryn VanPelt all adding single tallies in the match.

Emersyn Patenaude assisted on three scores and Brooke Coon set up a pair of scoring strikes for Stillwater.

Ally Liamero needed just one save to post the shutout for the home squad while B/NL keeper Charlie Young saved 15 shots for the visitors.  

Wasaren Boys Soccer and Golf: MacDougal Wins Wasaren League Tournament

At the MacGregor Links Country Club on Monday Luke MacDougal fired the low round of 73, while Waterford captured the team title at the Wasaren League Tournament.

Mechanicville netted a score in each half, and the Mechanicville defense shut down the Valley attack in the victory under the lights Monday night in Mechanicville.

Graham Murphy with a first half goal David DiSiena with a second half tally provided all the scoring needed with Mechanicville keeper Brady O’Connor saving five shots in earning the shutout.

Six different Fordians split the posts in the comfortable victory over the Falls Monday night in Waterford.

Payton Galuski and Jake Catanzarita led the Fordians attack with a pair of scoring strikes each, while Nick Frasier, Connor Belonga, Blake Guertin and Logan Sheehan all added single goals for Waterford. 

Belonga assisted on three of the Fordians tallies in the match.

Waterford goaltender Tristan Philo saved two shots in posting the shutout while Hoosick Falls keeper Richie Bartholomew, under siege throughout, turned away 31 shots on the night.  

 

Cambridge/Salem 6   Tamarac 3

Holding a slim 1-0 lead at the break, C/S exploded for five, second half scores in notching the home win over the Bengals of Tamarac.

Luke LeBlanc and Rowan Ossont worked a nice, first half give-and-go with Ossont finishing giving the home squad the 1-0 advantage.

After intermission Alex Olsen rang the bell three times for C/S while Nolan Thomas and Ossont added single tallies as C/S pulled away.

Anthony Garner connected for a pair of goals for the Bengals whose third score came off an own goal from C/S.

 

Greenwich 5   Berlin/New Lebanon 0

Greenwich built a 3-0 lead by the break on their way to the home “W” under the lights on Monday night.

The Witches got on the board just two minutes in when Brady Clifton finished a Johnny Morency corner kick for the 1-0 lead.

With 31 minutes remaining in the half Mason Foster took a Chrsitain Morency pass, carried it a bit before driving it past the B/NL keeper for the 2-0 cushion.

Greenwich capped it’s first half scoring when Johnny Morency’s corner found Wyatt Skiff at the top of the box, and Skiff found the back of the net for the 3-0 advantage.

After the break the Witches tacked on the final two scores of the match on a Christian Morency header off a Max Aeirstok find, before Jack Scieska finished a Wyatt Skiff helper for the match’s final tally.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saturday Results: Stillwater Tops Voorheesville, Mechanicville Wins a Pair

Stillwater 41   Voorheesville 0

Aidan Callanan threw for a pair of touchdowns and Ryan Brown ran for three more in Stillwater’s one-sided, road victory over the Blackbirds on Saturday.

Caleb Vacula got Stillwater on the board with a 60-yard touchdown run in the first and Brown added a 33-yard romp for six and the visitors led 13-0 heading into the second frame.

Callanan found Bryce Peterson on scoring strikes of five and 20 yards in the quarter, extending Stillwater’s lead to 27-0 heading into the break.

Two, third quarter touchdown carries by Brown of two and nine yards wrapped the scoring on the afternoon.

Callanan finished 6 of 7 for 70 yards in the game while Vacula ran for 183 yards on 10 carries with Brown rushing for 100 yards on 16 totes.

 

Mechanicville 3   Ichabod Crane 2   OT

Mechanicville snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, tying the game with :22 left in regulation and connecting on the game-winner in the extra session earning the road win over IC.

Trailing 3-2 with seconds remaining Ethan Rider sent the game in overtime when he found the back of the net, and David DiSiena finished off a long free kick from Alex Shakow for the deciding tally.

Aiden Fitzgerald scored in the first half of the match for Mechanicville’s opening goal.

Mechanicville keeper Brady O’Connor saved 12 shots in the win.

Mechanicville built a 4-0 lead by halftime and cruised to the win at home on Saturday.

Tanner Eiseman led the way with a four-goal effort, while Gianna Pitts added a pair of goals and Adianna Loiacono a single scoring strike.

Keeper Christina Bornt saved two shots in the victory for Mechanicville who extended their winning streak to seven. 

 

Waterford 6   Madrid-Waddington 0

The Fordians scored three times before and after intermission in posting the home “W” over M/W.

Waterford struck three times in four minutes late in the first half to take control.

Blake Guertin finished a Logan Sheehan cross at the 26th minute, followed by a Sheehan PK three minutes later, and Payton Galuski cleaned up a rebound for her first goal of the match sending the teams to halftime with the home squad holding a 3-0 cushion.

After the break Waterford’s fourth score came from Jake Catanzarita off a Galuski corner kick and Galuski wrapped the scoring in the match with a header off a Sheehan corner before connecting off a through pass from Sheehan for her third strike of the night.

In a match that needed extra sessions to decide, the Valley found the back of the net with two minutes left in overtime when a Payton Gela cross found Hannah Coffin who volleyed home the game-winner.

Valley keeper Lili Ruepp saved 18 shots in the win combining with the Hawk “D” for the shutout in Schaghticoke.  

 

Waterford 4   Tamarac 1

The Fordians used a pair of goals from Sophia Ledtke and single tallies from Riley Noto and Mia O’Brien to get past the Bengals of Tamarac Friday night in Waterford.

It was O’Brien’s 100th career goal.

Fordian keeper Isabella Ramundo saved nine shots in the victory.

 

Mechanicville 8   Spa Catholic 1

Mechanicville scored four times in each half, posting the one-sided decision over the Saints and running their unbeaten streak to 100 games in Wasaren play with a 98-0-2 mark over the span.

Graham Murphy led the scoring parade with a four-goal afternoon, with Zupan connecting twice and Dylan Andrews and Landon Bronson adding single tallies for Mechanicville.

The Saints avoided the shutout on a Redgrave score in the first half.

 

Maple Hill 3   Hoosick Falls 1

Maple Hill built a 2-0 lead by the break and held off the Panthers for the road win in girls’ soccer on Friday.

Sydney Silver scored in each half and Skye Swartz added a single tally for the visitors in the match.

The Falls got on the board when Emma Waugh connected on an unassisted strike in the second half. 

Maple Hill goaltender Faiel Glasheen saved 17 shots in the win while Hoosick Falls keeper Chayah Rhoden turned away 14 shots in the loss.

Mechanicville’s Matt Salvadore with a round of 33 claimed medalist honors in Mechanicville’s home win on Friday.

Joining Salvadore with individual match wins were teammates Kolton Renaldi and Brady Landy, while Greenwich’s Peter Wade posted a match win in flight five.

In flight two Mechanicville’s Ben Amado and the Witches Omar DeJesus split the point.

With the win Mechanicville improves to 12-3 on the season while Greenwich slips to 4-7 with the loss.

Hoosick Falls/Tamarac Tops V’liet

Hoosick Falls/Tamarac 31   Watervliet 8

Holding a 12-8 lead at the break, HF/Tam scored three second-half touchdowns to pull away from the Cannoneers for the road “W” Thursday night in Watervliet.

HF/T scored the first 12 points of the game on a 29-yard interception return for six, and an Owen Hart two-yard touchdown run before Watervliet got on the board just before halftime on a Kianthony Santiago four-yard TD tote and with the two-point conversion the home squad trailed 12-8.

But after intermission the visitors hung three unanswered touchdowns starting with third period scores by Hart on a 3-yard run and August Lee on a 15-yard romp for six.

Hart wrapped the scoring in the fourth frame, finding Eddie Miller on a 27-yard touchdown strike as HF/Tam closed things out to even their season mark at 2-2.

HF/Tam gained 180 yards on the ground led by Lee with 122 yards on 23 carries with Hart adding 35 yards on 10 totes.  

 

Hoosick Falls 4   Tamarac 3

The Panthers used a pair of Luke Nicholas goals and single tallies from Aiden Eckert and Max Salvesvold, to slip past Tamarac on Thursday.

Joel Kizza, Sam Kuiken and Camden Willetts all connected one time to lead the Bengals’ attack.
