Monday Soccer: Mechanicville, Waterford Earn Victories

Mechanicville 2   Burnt Hills 1

In the consolation game of the Mechanicville Fall Classic, the host squad trailed 1-0 after one half of play but connected on a pair of second half scoring strikes to post the come-from-behind “W” over Burnt Hills.

Ethan Raucci scored the equalizer, and Scotty Lynch found the range with the eventual game-winner for Mechanicville.

Mechanicville keeper Mark Pingelski saved 3 shots in the win, while Burnt Hills keeper Adan Yerina turned away five shots in the loss.

 

Waterford 6   Corinth 0

In the championship game of the Columbus Day Tournament, Waterford, nursing a 1-0 lead at the break, exploded for five, second half scores to pull away from Corinth and earn the victory.

Payton Galuski gave the Fordians a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute, finishing a Mason Noto find and Waterford took that advantage into the halftime break.

After intermission Waterford took control connecting on three goals in a three-minute span.  

In the 50th minute it was Connor Belonga finding the back of the net off a Logan Sheehan feed, one minute later Belonga doubled down, this time off a thru pass from Galuski. and just two minutes later Mason Noto capped the scoring flurry, cleaning up a rebound on the goal line for a 4-0 Fordian lead.

Sam Caulkins joined the party in the 61st minute with a header off a Galuski corner kick, and Blake Guertin closed out the night’s scoring for Waterford with an unassisted tally in the 65th minute.

Fordian keeper Logan Kelly saved six shots and with the Waterford defense posted the clean sheet. 

 

Coxsackie-Athens 8   Hoosick Falls 0

Coxsackie-Athens scored five times before the break on their way to the home win over the Falls on Monday.

Danielle Deering with a hat trick and Avery Conrad and Payton Slater with a pair of tallies each, led the way for C/A.

Keeper Jasa Cruz saved three shots in the win for C/A, while Falls keepers Lucy Haynes and Chaya Roden combined to save six shots in the loss.
