It will be an all Wasaren Class C final in the Section II field hockey tournament after Greenwich and Hoosick Falls notched “W’s” in their respective semifinal games on Wednesday.
Greenwich 5 Schuylerville 1: The Witches ran out to a 3-0 halftime advantage and were in control throughout, punching their ticket to the championship game.
Casey Perkins scored twice, and Sabrina Whitehouse handed out a pair of assists and tallied once to lead the second-seeded Greenwich squad.
Hope Williamson and Isabelle Kuzmich also rattled the cage for the Witches who improve to 12-6 on the year and now prepare for the Sunday final at 2 p.m.in Schuylerville with Hoosick Falls.
Hoosick Falls 2 Warrensburg 1: Liz Ryan scored twice, her second goal breaking a 1-1 second half deadlock, as the Panthers of Hoosick Falls posted the narrow victory and advanced to Sunday’s Class C final with Greenwich.
Ryan scored with 1:14 remaining in the first half giving the Panthers the lead at the break, but Warrensburg’s Mairina Callahan tied things midway through the second half setting up Ryan’s game winner with just 1:39 left in the contest.
The Falls stayed perfect at 18-0 with the victory and will look for their 19th win and a sectional title on Sunday versus the Witches.
