Key Stat:  Mechanicville didn’t allow a point in the second frame.

Take Away:  The Raiders jumped out to a 22-9 lead after the first eight minutes and rode a dominant, defensive effort to the road win over the Saints, moving to 4-1 on the season.

Key Stat:  The Mountaineers took control with a 21-7 second period.

Take Away:  Berlin/New Lebanon hang 80 on the board in Cambridge and improve to 2-2 on the year with the road “W”.

Wasaren Teams, 3-0 at Coaches Vs. Cancer Event

Key Stat:  The Valley converted on 13 of 17 free throws while the Blackbirds connected on just 4 of 13.  

Take Away:  The Indians built a 37-28 advantage by the break and rode that cushion to the “W” in the Coaches Vs. Cancer event at HVCC.

 

Greenwich 65   Canajoharie 33

Leading Scorers:  Witches – Joe Skiff 16      Ryan Ingber 11     Calvin Curtis 10            Canjo – Fairley 16

Key Stat:  Greenwich held Canjo to single numbers in each of the first three periods.

Take Away:  The Witches won every quarter and controlled things throughout, in doubling up Canajoharie.

Girls

Key Stat:  A 16-4 fourth period by Waterford proved to be the difference.  

Take Away:  In a close defensive battle throughout Waterford used a big fourth period to seal the road win.  

 

Wasaren Girls Results; Witches Move to 5-0

Greenwich 77   Hoosic Valley 10

Leading Scorers:  Witches – Adrianna Rojas 21, 10 rebounds, 7 assists     Brooke Kuzmich 15     Norah Niesz 14     Grace Autiello 10        Jocelyn Spezio 9         Valley – Lainey Bochette 3

Key Stat:  Greenwich ran out to a 30-4 advantage after the first eight minutes.

Take Away:  Greenwich fired on all cylinders drilling five triples, connecting on 18 of 22 from the stripe, while placing four players in doubles with a fifth scoring nine points, in the one-sided decision in Greenwich.  

 

Mechanicville 59   Waterford 31

Leading Scorers:  Red Raiders – Allie Kenyon 21     Ella Zecca 18             Fordians – Maddy Atwood 12

Key Stat:  The Raiders outscored Waterford 41-20 over the middle two frames.

Take Away:  Mechanicville trailed 9-8 after the first period but dominated the rest of the way and moved to 4-1 with the home “W”.

 

Cambridge 53   Stillwater 21

Leading Scorers:  Cambridge – Schuylar Nolan 20       Samantha Crandall 10         Warriors – Miranda Price 8

Key Stat:  Cambridge held the Warriors to single numbers in all four quarters.

Take Away:  Cambridge won every period and slowly pulled away for the comfortable victory at home, moving to 3-2 on the season.

Key Stat:  The Panthers doubled up the Mountaineers 26-13 in the first and shutout their hosts in the second frame.

Take Away:  The Falls built a 46-19 lead after three, nearly put four players in doubles, and coasted to the road win over the Mountaineers.  

Valley, Warriors Post Dominant Wins

Hoosic Valley 82   Greenwich 51

Leading Scorers:  Valley – Isiah Eckler 30      Gabe Coffin 12     Logan Reilly 11     Isaac Wiley 10         Witches – Joe Skiff 18

Key Stat:  Hoosic Valley held a 32-13 advantage in makes from two-point range.  

Take Away:  The Valley opens their season in style, winning every quarter and placing four players in doubles led by Eckler’s 30-point night.  The Indians will look to stack another “W” in Schaghticoke Friday night when they play host to the 1-1, 3-1, Panthers of Hoosick Falls.  

 

Stillwater 86   Cambridge 34

Leading Scorers:  Warriors – Jaxon Mueller 26      Matt Lemerande 12              Cambridge – Logan Kessler 16  5 3’s

Key Stat:  Stillwater jumped out to a 28-8 lead after one and backed that with a 23-11 second period.  

Take Away:  The Warriors put 10 players in the scoring column and hung 75 points on the board thru the first three frames in coasting past Cambridge Tuesday night in Stillwater.   Next up for the Warriors is a Friday night run in Stillwater with undefeated Tamarac in a 7:30 tip.  

Panthers, Saints Notch Wins

Hoosick Falls 78   Berlin/New Lebanon 38

Leading Scorers:  Panthers – Jake Sparks 26        Mat Kempf 15  5 3’s      Eli King 12          Mountaineers – Chris Shorter 10

Key Stat:  The Falls held Berlin/New Lebanon to 19 points combined over the final three periods.  

Take Away:  Sparks leads a trio of double figure scorers for the Falls, who won every quarter in posting the comfortable home “W” over the Mountaineers.  

 

Saratoga Catholic 52   Mayfield 36

Leading Scorers:  Saints – Justin Duscher 18     Aiden Dunne 13     Hunter Fales 10                  Mayfield – Cameron Abdella 13

Key Stat:  Spa Catholic outscored Mayfield 34-19 over the middle two frames.

Take Away:  Quarters two and three proved the difference in the Saints non-league win in Saratoga on Monday.  Just five players scored for Spa Catholic but three of those Saints were in doubles and they alone tallied more than enough to secure the victory.

Key Stat: Greenwich jumped out to a 29-6 lead after the first eight minutes.

Tway Away: Greenwich continues to roll, and the Witches can dominate at both ends of the floor, holding Stillwater to single numbers in every quarter, while drilling eight 3-pointers and scoring 65 offensively.

Cambridge 61 Spa Catholic 19

Key Stat: Cambridge held the Saints to single digits in every period.

Take Away: Cambridge rides a dominating defensive effort and a big night from Nolan to the victory.

Take Away:  In a tale of two halves the Raiders took a double-digit lead into the break but Cambridge erased the deficit and took a four-point lead late in the final frame, before the visitors, fueled by six points from Kenyon, responded for the comeback “W”.

Key Stat:  The Bengals held Spa Catholic to single numbers in every quarter.

Take Away:  Tamarac ended things early with a 27-4 first period where they bottomed five of their 10 made triples on the night and cruised from there to the road win over the Saints.

Key Stat:  The Bengals jumped out to a 22-4 lead after the first eight minutes and were never challenged.

Take Away: Poulin nets 34 and ties the school record for made threes with eight, while playing just 22 minutes in the contest.  Tamarac bottoms 11 triples on the night, puts nine players in the scoring column and moves to 3-0 on the year with the home victory.

Key Stat:  Mechanicville scored 50 points after the break.

Take Away:  The Raiders showed their offensive prowess building a comfortable 34-17 by halftime and hanging fifty, second half points on the board in cruising to the home “W”.  Twelve players scored for Mechanicville who evened their mark at 1-1 and will play host to the Panthers of Hoosick Falls on Friday.
