Two Wasaren squads played non league affairs on Monday night with the Hoosic Valley boys posting a “W” while the Lady Saints of Saratoga Catholic fell.
Hoosic Valley 63 Galway 44
Leading Scorers: Indians – Derek Eddy 16 CJ Bassett 14 Matt Rowe 11 Isaac Carlo 11 Galway – Ryan Lovelass 12 Erik Malanowski 10
Key Stat: Hoosic Valley started with a 17-3 first period and backed that with a 14-7 advantage in the second quarter to take control early.
Take Away: A nice non league win for the Valley, putting four players in doubles which has to please Coach Lilac. Next up for the Indians is a road game at Cambridge, Wednesday night.
Corinth 38 Saratoga Catholic 34
Leading Scorers: Tomahawks – Miranda Dockum 10 Saints – Ryleigh O’Connell 9
Key Stat: The Saints led 24 -18 at the break but Corinth rallied over the final two periods to earn the victory.
Take Away: The Saints go to 0-5 on the season but will have an opportunity tonight for that elusive first win, when they host the Mountaineers of Berlin.

More times than not when a team goes 25-2 and makes it to the state Final Four as Cambridge did just a year ago, the graduation stage in June forces a rebuild the following season. And while the Indians graduated four players that will be missed in Helen Mooney, Grace Snyder, Victoria Dupuis and Haley Herrington, the cupboard is certainly not bare for head coach Bob Phillips.
