On a day dominated by pitching Ticonderoga pushed across the lone run of the contest in the third frame and hung on to defeat Hoosic Valley 1-0 in a Class C regional baseball semifinal at Husky Field in Gloversville.
Winning pitcher Dalton Granger led off the third with a double and came around to score later in the inning on the only Hoosic Valley error in the game.
Granger scattered five hits and didn’t allow a base runner past second in picking up the complete game victory.
Jon Colligan was outstanding from the hill for the Valley allowing just three hits on the day.
Hoosic Valley finishes another exceptional spring season with a 20-5 mark, and their fourth straight Section II title.

While Mother Nature forced the cancellations of numerous sectional softball games on Monday, Hoosic Valley and Chatham managed to play there Class C quarterfinal, a game that took extra frames to decide things.
An Ashely Madigan three-run double in the top of the eighth did just that giving Hoosic Valley the “W” and sending the Indians to the Section II Class C semi’s. Continue reading
