Stillwater 4 Cambridge 3

In a back and forth match in Stillwater on Friday the Warriors trailed early, built a comfortable lead by halftime and then hung on to post the narrow win over the visitors from Cambridge.

Cambridge took the lead early when Addison Gates connected on a scoring strike at the 2:40 mark of the first half giving the Indians the 1-0 advantage. That lead however was short lived.

Ten minutes later Elliott Patenaude tallied, and doubled down with her second score of the match at the 20:00 mark giving Stillwater the 2-1 edge.

The Warriors Katelyn Koval and Karissa Mitchell continued Stillwater’s scoring run, both finding the back of the net before the break, sending the Warriors to intermission with a comfortable 4-1 advantage.

But Cambridge refused to go quietly.

With 15:00 remaining in the match the Indians Samantha Crandall found the range and with 5:00 left Tristan Crandall split the posts bringing Cambridge to within one at 4-3, before Stillwater closed things out for the non-league “W”.

Waterford 6 Corinth 0

The Fordians Josh Catanzarita with a first half tally and a pair of second half scoring strikes led Waterford to the shutout victory over Corinth on Friday.

Benji Mills, Schuyler Tostes and Mason Noto all connected for goals, part of a Waterford attack that kept constant pressure on Corinth throughout the match.

Tomahawks keeper Michael Petteys saved 21 shots in the contest while Waterford’s keeper Alex Roy enjoyed a clean day with no saves recorded.

Spa Catholic 3 Hoosick Falls 2

At Saratoga Spa Park on Friday the Saints earned wins in the top three flights and posted the narrow victory over Hoosick Falls in a contest that featured several matchups decided on the final few holes.

Charlie Greiner, Robbie Bolen and Will Emery all won individual matches for Spa Catholic, with Emery carding the low round of 40 on the day.

The Panthers Alison Hathaway and Dylan Callahan won their matches in flights four and five.

With the victory the Saints stay perfect at 6-0 while Hoosick Falls suffers their first defeat of the year, moving to 3-1.

Greenwich 4 Tamarac 1

The Witches Brad Brophy fired the low round of 44 to lead Greenwich to the “W” over Tamarac in a match played at Frear Park Golf Course on Friday.

Joining Brophy in the win column were teammates Patrick McFee, Sam Ziehm and Erik Wade.

Adam Rice earned a point for Tamarac with a win in flight two

Greenwich with the win improves to 2-3, while Tamarac slips to 1-3 with the loss.

Congratulations to Hoosick Falls golfer Aiden Fleming on being named the Wasaren Sportnet Player of the Week.

In three matches this week, all Panther victories, Aiden was simply on fire. The Hoosick Falls freshman in two home outings carded scores of 34 and 38 at the par 34 Hoosick Falls Country Club, and he also found the Battenkill Country Club to his liking, posting a one-under round of 34 at the Greenwich venue.

The Mechanicville boys soccer team opened their season in style on Thursday, stepping up in class and delivering a dominating road victory over Ballston Spa.

The Raiders scored four times before the break getting things started early when Andrew Kraszewski found Colin McNutt who found the corner of the net for the 1-0 lead.

Wyqie Agunda, Kraszewski and McNutt again, added scoring strikes before the break and the rout was on.

After intermission Devon Duggan got Ballston Spa on the board at the 10:00 mark, but the Raiders over the final 30 minutes continued the onslaught with Agunda added a pair of tallies and Kraszewski connecting for his second of the match.

Raider keeper Dylan Raucci and the Mechanicville “D” played well against their Class A opponent, with Raucci turning back 12 shots on the afternoon.

Next up for Mechanicville is a Tuesday night home match with neighboring rival Stillwater, scheduled for a 7:00 start,

Saratoga Catholic 5 Hoosic Valley 0

Spa Catholic’s Charlie Greiner fired the low score of 38 in the match in the Saints sweep of Hoosic Valley at the Battenkill Country Club on Thursday.

Robbie Bolen, Will Emery, Jacob Hajos and Tommy Greiner also earned points with individual match wins as Spa Catholic moved to 5-0 on the season with the victory.

Tamarac 4 Waterford 0

In action at Frear Park Golf Course on Thursday, Zach Rice showed the way for the Bengals carding the low round of 49 in the win.

Nevin Wilkie, Adam Rice and Joe Carista all posted individual wins to round out the scoring for Tamarac who goes to 1-2 on the year with the “W”.

Greenwich 5 Stillwater 0

Greenwich’s Brad Brophy earned medalist honors with the low round 41 in the Witches shutout of Stillwater at the Battenkill on Thursday.

Patrick McFee, Luke Demianenko, Sam Ziehm and Erik Wade joined Brophy in the winner’s circle for the Witches who with the victory improve to 1-3 on the year.

The high school golf season started just one week ago and over the past seven days it seems that Wasaren teams play daily. One week into the regular season three league squads remain unbeaten in Mechanicville, Spa Catholic and Hoosick Falls. While Hoosick Falls was idle on Wednesday, the Raiders and Saints teed things up in separate matches, and both added another “W” to their resumes.

Mechanicville 5 Hoosic Valley 0

RJ Roberts and Jack Salvadore both fired low rounds of 47’s paving the way for the Mechanicville shutout win over Hoosic Valley in a match played at the Mechanicville Golf Course on Wednesday.

Joey Manzer, Matthew Salvadore and Nate Salvadore also posted individual wins in their flights as the Red Raiders improved to 5-0 on the season.

Cambridge-Salem 3 Stillwater 1

At Saratoga Lake Golf Course on Wednesday Cambridge-Salem’s James Toleman showed the way, carding a 43 in leading Cambridge-Salem past the Warriors of Stillwater.

Stillwater had just one golfer tee up in the match and Carter Wicheins won his individual matchup in flight one to earn the point for the Warriors.

Saratoga Catholic 5 Greenwich 0

Charlie Greiner shot a 40, to claim medalist honors and lead the Saints to the sweep of Greenwich in action at Saratoga Spa Park on Wednesday.

Joining Greiner with individual match “W’s” were teammates Robbie Bolen, Will Emery, Jacob Hajos, and Cam Khoury.

With the win Spa Catholic improves to 4-0 on the year while Greenwich slips to 0-3.

With the sounds of opening day at the Schaghticoke Fair in the background, the Indians of Hoosic Valley hosted Stillwater in a 10 a.m. girls soccer matchup Wednesday morning. The season-opener for both squads played out as a typical Wasaren clash, hard fought from start to finish, with physical and aggressive soccer on display.

And while Stillwater outshot their hosts nearly three to one in the game, the Valley made their attempts count with Megan Rice connecting for the only two scores of the morning, leading the Indians to the 2-0 victory.

For much of the first half the Warriors kept the pressure on Indians keeper Riley Caiazza who was a rock between the posts throughout, and finished with 13 saves in the contest.

With 15:00 remaining in the half the Indians Leigha Henkel found Rice just outside the box and the Hoosic Valley striker carried it briefly before firing, the ball hitting the left post and caroming in for the 1-0 advantage.

The Valley took that lead into the break and held the tenuous cushion for most of the second half despite seemingly constant pressure from the Stillwater attack, forcing Caiazza into a number of quality saves including multiple diving denials.

With less than two minutes remaining, the Indians iced things when Rice found the back of the net from 15 yards out, for her second tally of the match

Stillwater keeper Miranda Price saved five shots for the Warriors, while Caiazza turned back 13 shots and combined with the Valley “D” for the shutout.

While its still early in high school golf’s regular season, three Wasaren teams have crafted perfect starts in the early going. Mechanicville won it’s fourth straight match on Tuesday, while Hoosick Falls and Saratoga Catholic both captured their third in a row to start the year.

Mechanicville 4 Greenwich 1

The Red Raiders posted wins in flights 2-5 in action at the Battenkill Country Club on Tuesday. RJ Roberts, Nate Salvadore, Matthew Salvadore and Jack Salvadore all handled their business and earned points, as the Raiders improved to 4-0 on the season.

Greenwich’s Brad Brophy earned the Greenwich point with a win in flight one and shared medalist honors with Mechanicville’s RJ Roberts, both carding 46’s, in the match.

Hoosick Falls 5 Hoosic Valley 0

Freshman Aiden Fleming torched the course at the Battenkill Country club on Tuesday, firing a one under 34, to lead Hoosick Fall to the shutout victory over the Witches.

Fleming, who rolled in back to back birdie putts on holes 3 and 4, was joined in the victory parade by teammates Miles Smith 40, Alison Hathaway 44, Brady Hathaway 48, and Dylan Callahan who carded a 49.

The Falls with the win moves to 3-0 on the year and will host Mechanicville on Thursday.

Ben Jensen posted the Valley’s low score of 53 in the opening match of the year for the Indians.

Spa Catholic 4 1/2 Cambridge -Salem 1/2

Charlie Greiner posted the low round of 36 to lead the Saints to the near sweep of Cambridge-Salem in a match played at the Hoosick Fall Country Club.

Also picking up individual wins for Spa Catholic were Robbie Bolen, Tommy Greiner and Jacob Hajos.

The Saints’ Will Emery and Cambridge-Salem’s Luke MacDonald split the point in flight number two.

Mechanicville 3 Cambridge-Salem 2

In a match played at the Mechanicville Golf Course on Monday the homestanding Red Raiders picked up wins in flights 1,4 and 5 to post the narrow victory over Cambridge-Salem.

Mechanicville’s Joey Manzer bested all players on the day, posting a 44, and Manzer was joined in the winner’s circle by teammates Nate and Jack Salvadore to round out the scoring for the Raiders.

James Toleman and Luke MacDougall earned points for Cambridge-Salem, winning their individual matches in flights two and three.

With the win Mechanicville moves to 3-0 on the year while, Cambridge -Salem goes to 0-1 with the loss.

Hoosick Falls 5 Greenwich 0

Hoosick Falls freshman Aiden Fleming carded a 38 to claim medalist honors, leading the Panthers to the sweep of Greenwich in action at the Hoosick Falls Country Club on Monday.

Joining Fleming in the win column were Panthers Miles Smith 39, Brady Hathaway 40, Allison Hathaway 42, and Dylan Callahan 42.

Brad Brophy lead Greenwich with a round of 44 followed by Patrick McFee 48, Luke Demianenko 51, Sam Ziehm 53, and Eric Wade who carded a score of 56 at the par 34 venue.

With the victory Hoosick Falls moves to 2-0 on the young season, while Greenwich goes to 0-1 with the loss.

Joey Manzer carded a 40 at the Mechanicville Golf Course on Thursday claiming medalist honors and leading the Red Raiders to a victory over Tamarac in the season-opener for both teams.

RJ Roberts and Matthew Salvadore won their individual matches for Mechanicville, while teammate John Breen halved a point with the Bengals Joe Carista in the fifth flight.

Adam Rice earned a point for Tamarac with a win in flight three.
