While its still early in high school golf’s regular season, three Wasaren teams have crafted perfect starts in the early going. Mechanicville won it’s fourth straight match on Tuesday, while Hoosick Falls and Saratoga Catholic both captured their third in a row to start the year.
Mechanicville 4 Greenwich 1
The Red Raiders posted wins in flights 2-5 in action at the Battenkill Country Club on Tuesday. RJ Roberts, Nate Salvadore, Matthew Salvadore and Jack Salvadore all handled their business and earned points, as the Raiders improved to 4-0 on the season.
Greenwich’s Brad Brophy earned the Greenwich point with a win in flight one and shared medalist honors with Mechanicville’s RJ Roberts, both carding 46’s, in the match.
Hoosick Falls 5 Hoosic Valley 0
Freshman Aiden Fleming torched the course at the Battenkill Country club on Tuesday, firing a one under 34, to lead Hoosick Fall to the shutout victory over the Witches.
Fleming, who rolled in back to back birdie putts on holes 3 and 4, was joined in the victory parade by teammates Miles Smith 40, Alison Hathaway 44, Brady Hathaway 48, and Dylan Callahan who carded a 49.
The Falls with the win moves to 3-0 on the year and will host Mechanicville on Thursday.
Ben Jensen posted the Valley’s low score of 53 in the opening match of the year for the Indians.
Spa Catholic 4 1/2 Cambridge -Salem 1/2
Charlie Greiner posted the low round of 36 to lead the Saints to the near sweep of Cambridge-Salem in a match played at the Hoosick Fall Country Club.
Also picking up individual wins for Spa Catholic were Robbie Bolen, Tommy Greiner and Jacob Hajos.
The Saints’ Will Emery and Cambridge-Salem’s Luke MacDonald split the point in flight number two.
