Mechanicville Holds Off Tamarac

Tuesday night in Mechanicville the Red Raiders built a commanding 17 point cushion through three periods of play, but needed a clutch triple from sophomore Josh Germaine late in the fourth to put away the Bengals and post the 64-57 “W”.

The two squads played evenly through the first eight minutes with Mechanicville’s Kendrick McCann and Tamarac’s Frank Zotto each scoring five points in the period.  Continue reading

Mechanicville Bowling Team Earns Title

The Mechanicville boys bowling team recently clinched the regular season championship in the Colonial Council topping Lansingburgh, Schalmont, Ravena and others to earn the title.

Sophomore Jacob LaFountain finished the season with the second highest league average at 221.7, and teammate, junior Josh Kalwasinski finished in the top 10 as well with a 214 average.

Congratulations to the Red Raiders on an outstanding regular season.

Falls Girls, Spa Boys Post Wins

It was a light Wednesday of basketball for the teams of the Wasaren but at night’s end the Hoosick Falls girls and Saratoga Catholic boys both came away with “W’s”.

Hoosick Falls 55  Hoosic Valley 41

Leading Scorers:  Panthers – Logan Thayne 19 / 12 rebounds      Noreen McAuliffe 11      Valley – Emaleigh Peckham 13     Alex Rifenburg 11 / 14 rebounds

Key Points:  The Valley led 10-6 after one and 21-18 at the break, but the Falls outscored the visitors 37-20 the rest of the way highlighted by a 22 point fourth period, and notched the win improving to 6-3 in league play.

 

Saratoga Catholic 66  Argyle 54

Leading Scorers:  Saints – Sean Englert 21     Terel Tillman 14     Aiden Dagostino 12     Ben Scammell 11       Scots – Peyton Lufkin 19     Andrew Facin 12

Key Points:  The Saints put four players in doubles, and used a 22-15 advantage in the final period to pull away and avenge an early season defeat to the Scots.

 

New Lebanon 60  Berlin 49

Leading Scorers:  New Leb – Brandon Caul 20      Clayton Erickson 18     Quinnton Dengler 12       Mountaineers – Ryan Willis 23     Tyler Kellar 14

Key Points:  Berlin knocked down nine triples on the night but it wasn’t enough as New Lebanon, leading 29-25 at halftime, used a 20-8 third period to take control on their way to the non-league victory.

Wasaren Sportsnet Player of the Week

Congratulations to Hoosick Falls’ Jonathan Kempf on being named Wasaren Sportsnet Player of the Week.

On Monday Kempf scored 19 points including three triples in a 71-47 win over Saratoga Catholic and the next night versus Hoosic Valley the Panther sophomore poured in 24 points including 7 of 8 from the foul line in a 90-47 victory over the Indians.

To close the week Jonathan netted 18 points in 69-48 “W” over the Warriors of Stillwater.

Boys Basketball; Panthers Stay Hot

One-sided affairs were the theme Tuesday night in the Wasaren with just one boys run decided by less than 28 points.  Among the dominant victories was Hoosick Falls rolling over Hoosic Valley 90-47, one night after pinning a 71-47 defeat on the Saints of Saratoga Catholic who were previously unbeaten in Wasaren play.
